    1. [RODGERS] [ROGERS] Thomas Rogers -New Jersey 1736.....Iowa
    2. Carolyn Branch
    3. Hi, I have a book ROGERS FAMILY PIONEERS by Jacob E. Rogers. It starts with Thomas Rogers who married Ann Staples October 30, 1736 near Burlington in Western New Jersey and follows the family westward through Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Iowa. Robert Rodman Rogers and his brother Daniel Rogers were among the earliest settlers in Linn County, Iowa, arriving in 1838. They established a settlement called Rogers' Grove. The book is mostly the story of the settlement between 1838 and about 1900. There are many family stories. I got the book through interlibrary loan and it turns out it is not my family at all. But since I have it, if anyone is interested I will do look ups during the next week or so. It is 286 pages and of course is not indexed, so I can't guarantee accuracy, but I'll try. Just let me know. 3. Hi folks, I seriously believe I will die of curiosity and frustration in the next 7 days!! Remember I told you, that after searching for 30 years for my 2nd great grandmother's famiy, they were found in Grainger Co., TN? Well, yesterday I called my nearest FHC to see if they had the 1860 cencus for Grainger. They did! I went there today with a whole stack of census forms ready to take down every ROGERS and DARNELL in that census. The sign on the door said "Closed early. Sorry!" Aaaggghhh! We live quite a ways out of town up in the mountains. We only go in on Wed. & Sun. I really must learn patience. It has never been one of my better qualities. I suppose, after 30 years, 7 days isn't so bad. I don't suppose the FHC will burn down or anything in the next 7 days. :-) Carolyn ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ==== ROGERS Mailing List ==== ROOTSWEB'S WORLD CONNECT PROJECT Share your GEDCOM & search other's: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/ ============================== Join the RootsWeb WorldConnect Project: Linking the world, one GEDCOM at a time. http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/

    1. [RODGERS] Re: [ROGERS] George W. Rogers NC>TN>MS
    2. I looked up the "other" Rogers family that moved to Tippah County/Alcorn County, Mississippi. Here's what I found out: W.V.S. Rogers migrated to Alcorn County, Mississippi (right next to Tippah County, where our Rogers family was living) in 1856 from Union County, North Carolina. Russell Rogers was W.V.S. Rogers' father. Russell was born in 1808 in North Carolina. They had a cotton and tobacco plantation of over 2,000 acres, and were apparently very well-off. Russell Rogers was a leader in the Union County, NC community. He was appointed census taker in 1850. I know nothing more about Russell, his parents or siblings. I have always suspected that our George W. Rogers may be a sibling or cousin of Russell's, but I've had absolutely no leads to confirm or deny this suspicion. Obviously, if anyone can shed any light on these folks, I'd be eternally grateful!
