Seeking info on James Rodgers. Army papers claim he was born 2nd April 1796 in Loughgall, Co Armagh, Ireland. Yet to find proof ! He served with British Army from 1813 to 1337 rising to rank of Paymaster in 26th Regiment of Foot (Cameronians). It may be that he was actually from Scotland but he didn't know it as he took over the rank of Quater Master in the 26th from one WILLIAM RODGERS (born in Scotland) who retired. I have it on good authority that exchanges in rank of this nature were very often passed to family members who were able to take over If you think you may have something, but need more info about his later life, contact me. The following information was obtained from a bible belonging to Mary Susan Rogers Colvin (1859-1936). she was born in Tarrant County, Texas, lived most of her life in Jack County, Texas, and died in Clarendon, Texas in Donley County. This sturdy bible was published through Union Theological Seminary, New York City, June 15th, 1869. I'm not related to these folks and have no other information. I assume the bible is in the hands of the woman that transcribed it for The Pioneer Wagon... Marie Lane, 201 Jennings Road, Independence, MO 64056... but don't know that for sure.
