Hello, been researching the Rogers for awhile and have gotten lots of info on more recent branches, but am looking for a way through the dead end, maybe some of you can help me. here's my branch: James M. Rogers b July 27 1830 died Oct. 3, 1916 married to Nancy(Harrell) Rogers b.July 10, 1837 d Nov. 15,1920 They had ? children, one of which was: Eli Greenberry Rogers b Oct. 1, 1855 d. Sept. 18, 1915 married Sarah jane ( Keen) Rogers b June 11, 1859 d. Oct. 26, 1900 they had 13 children-one of which was: John Murdock Rogers b March 24,1886 (married Lillie Bell Ard, (had 4 children) ) after her death in childbirth married Ola Mae Thomas (had 2 children, one of which was my grandfather Flavius Byron Rogers) My interest is in info BEFORE James M. Rogers, I am specifically interested in any Irish or Native American info.(there is some connection to South Carolina-I thought maybe they immigrated to there from Ireland-that is one family rumor I am looking to substantiate) This family is such a large one that I need help sorting it out! Deborah, I thought you might be interested in this--then again you may have already seen this. >From ABSTRACTS OF EARLY RECORDS OF LAURENS CO. , SO. CAR 1785-1820 by SARAH NASH. Deed Book G ----234 "12/3/1800--7/8/1801--Isaac Rodgers & w. Margaret to Thomas Burton for -L- 100 stg. 100 a. on Beaverdam of Little R. part of 600 a. gr. to Edmond Learwood, b. on Hamilton, sd E.L. (my note-Edmond Learwood), Jefse (my note--Maybe Jesse) Meeks. Wit: E.S. AReland, Little B. Sullivan. Wm. Mitchell, J>Q> There is another entry where Isaac Rodgers bought this, but it does not mention his wife Margaret. Then there are other entries where Isaac has witnessed transactions and if you need this information I can send it to you. Now, I am thinking this could be the Isaac Rogers that is in Lincoln Co. Tenn in 1820. He living close to Absolem, Jones and Our Joseph Rogers. That Isaac did deed some land to Absolem and also some to Jones. He did not (as far as I can find) deed any to our Joseph. Our Joseph bought land in Lincoln Co., Tenn in 1817 and I think it was from Jesse Pugh, but it could have been one of the other Pughs. I have a copy of the transaction but will need to find it. If you are interested I can do so. Now, here is something else from the Nash book. Deed Book K--299 "7-17-1820--8-15-1820. Sarah Swan appoints Jones Rogers her atty for affairs in S.C. Brice M. Garner, Clk Lincoln Co., Tenn cert. that Richd Floyd JP acting. JP.C. Broyles BMG as acting clk. of sd Co." Sarah Swan was living next to Jones Rogers in the 1820 census of Lincoln Co., Tenn. Sarah Swan's husband Tim was deceased before a settlement of an estate came thru for him , but he had made some debts depending on the estate (estates) (I think there were two) being settled. Sarah was trying to collect on this estate to satisfy the debts that her husband had made. I can send all of this to you if you would like to have it. In the 1790 census of Laurens Co., this Isaac Rodgers - Males - 1 over 16 3 Under 16 Females 4 In the 1800 census of Laurens Co., S.C. Isaac Rodgers Males 2-2-1-0-2 Females 1-1-1-0-1 The 1800 Census lst Number is under 10 2nd number is 10 to 16 3rd number is 16 to 26 4th number is 26 ti 45 5th number is Over 45 So this would put the Isaac born 1755 or before. I have not found the Isaac in the 1810 census. In the 1820 census in Lincoln Co., Tenn. Isaac Rogers Males 0 0 0 0 0 1 Females 0 1 1 0 1 This puts Isaac over 45 and it looks like his wife was gond (deceased?) and the three females that were in the 1800 census in So Car. are still at home in 1820 in Lincoln Co., Tenn.. I suppose it could be grandchildren though. I am not sure of the breakdown of ages in the census, but this would put Isaac in the oldest age bracket in 1820. Do not know if any of this will help you or not.
