He did not document, but was an early (I can;t think of the word for it now.) person who just gathered up some Rogers data, threw it together and sold the book as being a history of your family. My grandmother bought me one back in the 1960s because I thought it would have great Rogers data. Now, I remember the word-- Con Artist. We have been turning in this type of person to the PO for years, but these people still prey upon the unexperienced researcher or family member who doesn't know the difference. I had a message from a GLEN ROGERS ( I believe it was) about a BENJAMIN ROGERS of BERTIE,N.C. and I inadvertantly hit the delete button. I do not find a BENJAMIN in the list of children of either PELEG or his brother JOB, both of whom moved from Rhode Island to North Carolina. That does not mean there was not a son. I have not done much research on them as this is not my direct line. Clyde ==== ROGERS Mailing List ==== Unsubscribe? Send the message UNSUBSCRIBE to: [email protected] or .... I'm trying to help someone search for her family. She has almost given up because she hasn't be able to get anywhere in awhile. Here is some of the story. The mother was Mary SHIPE (maiden name) the daughter Lydia FLEXER married George MIZER she was born in Penn. and moved to Ohio. My source says she has a record of where they lived but CANNOT find it listed on the Census. It was as though they missed the house. Lydia was my sources' materal grandmother and my source is about 70-80 right now. Another part of the story. There was a FLEXER found in the Civil War and there was info found on his wife, but nothing on him. There was possibly a half brother but as of yet there is no proof. That is all of the story I have right now. If any of this sounds familiar I know my source would love to hear it. Kim Pollard [email protected] ==== ROGERS Mailing List ==== Unsubscribe? Hi, Mary. I spent several hours last night trying to get my Rogers and Terrells straightened out. I have the Peleg you mentioned married to Elzabeth in my direct line. I just got a ged com from someone who has it a little diferently than mine. I have Silvanay in one chart, and she is missing in another. I am really anxious to get these Tn relaties in line - and am working on them now. I will get back to you soon, if not, remind me--I'm absent minded Mary, my grandchildren's other grandfather was Harry Aaron Black. a close relative of his was very active in the Kansas Genealoical Society. I would like to find out if harry's chart might be available somewhere there. He was born 19 February probaby 1919. 1920, thereabouts. I have a picture of two civil war kids that were relatives that Harry gave me, but I didn't have suffient interest at the time to write down the data Bette Robinson. You can look up your fathers Social Security number online and then with about $7.00 and a letter to the Soc. Sec. Dept. and a little time you can request your fathers number and that slip of paper will have your fathers parents names on it. I recently found out that if you know where your family members are buried the Sextant at the cemetery can tell you what funeral home took care of the burial and or if you go to the funeral home first they can and are usually willing to give you a free copy of the funeral record and death certificate with most of the same info. on it. Don't forget to look in the obituaries of the newspapers on Microfilm. I was very surprised at what information can be listed on there. Also look to the vital records dept. where you where born they MIGHT be able to help you. I have also heard about a spy program at www.spyheadquarters.com that you can look up if you want to check out criminal records. If you have the time look up your parents marraige certificate because they used to list the parents names on that as well. Most of use the internet. I have found A LOT of info on there you just have to be nosey and have time to look.
