Hi everyone: I have been reading the postings and getting a little depressed, isn't there any one on the list researching the Rogers/Rodgers line in PA/NY area's. I have been going thru some census and I can't seem to get anywhere. It's like my ggg grandfather appear out of nowhere. I have developed a brick wall as far as Hiram Rogers is concerned. Anyone in the family that might have remembered him is gone. Also, I have a book for the Waterford Cemetery (up to 1944) in Waterford, PA, and the Sextant has been very helpful, if anyone needs a lookup. I have also been in contact with sextant's for the following Cemetery's: Pine Grove Cemetery, in Corry PA; Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg, PA; and most cemeteries in Erie, PA: If I can help any one on the list let me know. Glad to help! Becky Scott [email protected] ==== ROGERS Mailing List ==== To Reply [email protected] <> List Problems [email protected] Unsubscribe? My records show this Matthew Rogers, who was son of Matthew, younger Brother of my Colonel James Rogers founder of Rogers Station in NelsonCo., KY was born "about" 1764 based on dying 5 Feb 1843, age 78 yrs 10 mos 27 days at Owensboro, KY. Matthew married Eleanor Carter 6 March 1782 at Rogers Station. They produced 10 children. Eleanor died 3 march 1842 having lived in the old brick house at the corner of Third and Allen Streets, known as the Dr Wood home. Children were: Nancy; Elizabeth; Sarah; Mary; Eleanor; Jane; James M.; Rebecca; Shadrack; and Steven V. In order, spouses were: Clark A Hall; John Keith; John Leamon; John S Kelly; Mason J Howell; Abner Luce; First-Jane Adams, Second-Margaret Muir; Ephraim Hale; First-Elizabeth Luce, Second-Ruth Rafferty; and lastly Lucinda Leamon. (Children were from Filson Club records) Added data: Matthew was ordained to preach 1813 Yelvington Baptist Church, Daviess Co., KY .............Also may have preached at Little Pigeon Church in Daviess Co., KY 1816-1817.......... Hope this helps, but remember I am the messenger, not the author!!! Records are from the files of Jean Rogers Webb would researched the Rogers family for nearly 30 years prior to her death in 1995, and she served as President of the Ventura Co., CA Genealogy Society for many years. She was noted for documenting her findings. Hal ==== ROGERS Mailing List ==== To Reply [email protected] <> List Problems [email protected] Unsubscribe? Hi Rogers Cuz's...........now that things seem to be cooling down a bit I would like to mention that we all have things to do. Earlier today I did a broad "Search" on Rootsweb for ROGERS........the response was 12, 370 references containing the name. Nearly every state was represented and many cities and counties therein......After nearly three hours I had managed to look at less than 50 of these references... Typical items included the following: Estill Co., KY 1850 Census: Line 28 Dwelling 32: Berry Rogers age 29 born KY Page 48 Emily 20 KY Hiram 2 KY Malinda 1 KY 2 71: James Rogers 25 KY Rachel 25 VA Elizabeth 6 KY Margarett 5 KY Nancy 1 KY 27 104 Nelson Rogers 30 KY page 53 Judy 24 KY Berthina 2 KY Susan J. 12 Mo. KY 10 108 Isaac Rogers 24 KY Ally 18 KY John H. 12 Mo KY 13 109 Milly Rogers 51 KY page 54A Hiram 21 KY John 18 KY Pernetta 16 KY Milly Ann 9 KY Josephus 8 KY 19 110 John Rogers 36 KY page 54 Mary 36 KY Abigail 13 KY Elizabeth 12 KY William 11 KY James G. 8 KY Elizabeth E. 6 KY Isaac T. 3 KY Elenah 12 Mo KY Now who's doing the other 12, 320????? There's so much data available online we may never browse it all. Harold Rogers Irving, native of Cincinnati, OH; my line is to Colonel James Rogers of Rogers Station near Bardstown, Nelson Co., KY. Colonel James Rogers came to Kentucky around 1778 with William Bard building his station along with his brothers and a sister after having served as a Lt Colonel in the Virginia Militia during Dunsmore War and the RW......He served as a Justice and participated in the Fishing Camp Convention that wrote the plea for separation of Kentucky from Virginia, and later in organizing The State of Kentucky......He was late of Hampshire Co., VA (now WVA) having lived in VA, NC, VA again...and moving to KY about 4 years before Statehood in 1792........ Hal, from Northern California! BTW, my Cousin Jean Rogers Webb, who upon her final illness made sure that I received all her 30 years worth of Rogers data, always told the story of her childhood where her Father, Wilson Rogers, would observe her actions and quitely comment "You're a Rogers, act like it!" ==== ROGERS Mailing List ==== To Reply [email protected] <> List Problems [email protected] Unsubscribe? Anyone working on a Rodgers line in TX? I'd like to post my URL for my husband's Rodgers outline. Not much is known so far but would certainly welcome any information, especially on earlier generations. As far back as we know it's spelled with the *d*, but won't say that it never was the other spelling. (May even learn one day that he's connected to my cousin's line below <G> ). Feel welcome to add your Rodgers/Rogers line into the SURNAME CONTACT LIST, list your Rodgers/Rogers URL and post a Query. http://www.geocities.com/moonspinner.geo/RodgersDesc.html P.S. I'm also working on my cousin's Rogers/Teer lines of TX (John Willis Rogers/Lurana Teer) http://www.geocities.com/moonspinner.geo/TeerDesc.html Nancy Rodgers

Hi Vicki, You may have opened a can of worms. My brick wall is Larkin R. Rogers, b. 1802-7 in Tn. but married Mary Ann Aycock,d. of Henry Aycock in 1825 in Morgan Co. The raised a family in Morgan Co. untill 1846 when they came to Tx.He witnessed a will in Madison Co. in 1824. Some say his father was Larkin Rogers who was in Shelby Co. later. I have land records in Morgan Co. for Larkin Rogers for 1824 and later.I think his father may have been John Rogers who owned property in 1811 in Madison Co. Is there any way that you could see if there is a will for John Rogers in Morgan Co. around 1820 to 1824? If not, Thanks any way Marilyn ==== ROGERS Mailing List ==== To Reply [email protected] <> List Problems [email protected] Unsubscribe? Send the message UNSUBSCRIBE to: [email protected] or ....
