    3. Alice, Most list managers don't bother to tell anyone they leave, let alone get someone to replace them! Most of the lists I adopted were abandoned lists where the list manager just stopped without getting a replacement or telling anyone. Every list I have I immediately sent a message to the list explaining that I adopted the list. 3. Sending my info out once again in the hopes there is someone who can help break down my very thick brick wall. Ellen or Nellie (have her down as both names) Rogers was born somewhere in Ireland in 1846. Her family lived in Mt. Airy Pennsylvania. Do not know parents or siblings. She married John McCrea and had 8 children before dying in 1889 from TB. They lived in Chestnut Hill which is part of Philadelphia PA. If anyone has any early Rogers census from Pennsylvania and would be kind enough to look for an Ellen/Nellie from that area I would be grateful. -- RESEARCHING: O'CONNOR*YOUNG*MCCREA*ROGERS* WATSON*THOMPSON*QUINN*MUNGAN*STROHM*GILROY SMITH*ROY*LLEWELLYN*KIRKPATRICK*NUGENT*KANE DOYLE*BAILLEE*MCPHILLIPS*STIRLING*SPEARS ==== ROGERS Mailing List ==== To Reply [email protected] <> List Problems [email protected] Unsubscribe? 2. Marlene Pointer
    3. I am looking for a couple of George B. Rodgers in Indiana. They are intimately connected with my ancestors as evidenced in a family bible, but we can't make the connections between the people. George Bumgarner Rodgers was maybe a brother to John Quincy Rodgers, Joseph Rodgers, Thornton F. and Aaron Grisby Rodgers. All have been found in IN about 1833. I have a copy of a letter written by Dr. Aaron G. Rogers II at the age of 83 in 1938 he mentions brother John and sister Mary Halladay. He was still in IN practicing medicine and with family, writing to cousins in Albany, OR. I would be happy to share the bit of information in it for anyone that is interested. 3. I wonder if Stark Rogers was named after this General... This Stark ? found on the www: http://www.bluecrab.org/famtree/histcolam.html Reminiscences of the French War: Major Roger's Journal and a Memoir of General Stark Rogers/Stark ............... Heritage............... $22.50 This book combines both the story of Roger's Rangers with the memoirs of General John Stark of New Hampshire who also served with that legendary organization and who would go on to fame during the Revolution for leading his troops in triumph over the British at the Battle of Bennington. and: http://www.acidus.com/rogers.html Rogers Rangers Robert Rogers (b. Nov. 7, 1731, Methuen, Mass.--d. May 18, 1795) Robert Rogers was a colonial farmer recruited from New Hampshire in 1755 by the British for service in the French and Indian War (1754-63). He created a unit called Rogers' Rangers in 1756 (the first Rangers), and by 1758 the British placed him in charge of all colonial Ranger companies. The Rangers wore distinctive green outfits and developed tactics called "Rogers' Ranging Rules", which the British considered unconventional. These tactics are still in use by Rangers today, including the Green Berets. Rogers' Rangers were most famous for their engagement with the Abenaki St Francis Indians, who lived midway between Montreal and Quebec. These Abenaki were credited with the deaths of over 600 colonists during the duration of the war. After the Indians attacked a retreating British unit under a flag of truce, Rogers led a hand-picked force of 200 Rangers to destroy the Indian's village. Rogers' Rangers took part in General James Wolfe's expedition against Quebec and in the Montreal campaign of 1760. The Rangers were later sent by General Jeffrey Amherst to take possession of the northwestern posts, including Detroit. In 1763 the Rangers were in the West again, during Pontiac's War (1763-64), and they participated in the Battle of Bloody Bridge After the war, Rogers went to England to write of his accounts. In 1766 he asked King George III to fund an expedition from the Mississippi River to the Pacific. The King refused, but granted him command of the northwest post called Michilimackinac. From there, Rogers conducted his own expedition anyways. His ambition caused him to be sent to England on the charges of treason, but he was acquitted. Historians believe the spark of the American Revolution may have begun in the ranks of Rogers' Rangers. One of America's best officers during the Revolution was John Stark, who had been Rogers' Lieutenant. The British had treated the Rangers poorly during the French and Indian War. In 1775 former members of Rogers' Rangers fired upon the British at Concord and Lexington. Rogers returned to America to join the Revolution when it started. George Washington refused his offer of help, because he feared that Rogers might be a loyalist spy. Outraged by this, Rogers openly joined the British and organized and commanded the Queen's Rangers, which saw service in areas around New York City, and later created the King's Rangers. Given the tendency for families to intermarry and move together, I thought we might make a connection. My Susannah Rogers was born about 1825, TN, and died 1905, Sharp Co., AR. She married first Hiram Buckles and issued two sons, Isaac and Joe Buckles. She married second Ferguson Boothe and issue (4) Frances M., Martha J., Manerva E., and George Washington Boothe, of my direct line. Do youall recognize this Susannah Rogers? 1. [RODGERS] [ROGERS] Irvin Rogers, Nashville, IL
    2. I havent posted this for quite some time, so maybe someone might have some information they didn't have before. I am looking for any information I can find about Irvin Rogers, born about 1802 in either North Carolina or Georgia. He was married to Celia Shaver and moved from Tennessee by wagon to Nashville, Washington Co., Illinois around 1848. Children were Levi, Mary, Julia, Virginia, Thomas, Silas, William, Valerie and John. Irvin died in Nashville in 1871. I believe I have found him in the 1840 Bedford Co., Tennessee census, but know nothing about him or his parents before that. Any information or suggestions would be grately appreciated. The early Cain's came to Russell County (I have nothing other than local geography knowledge) and then founded a cross road village called "Cain's Store"..... still exists at intersection of old highway 80 and Ky 837..........near where Russell-Casey-Pulaski Counties join. My Mother (a Rainwater) was born at Mintonville about 3 to 4 miles north on 837.......Might look in that area....
