    1. [RODGERS] Rodgers/Hunter/Crumpton
    2. Dan Crumpton
    3. I am searching for data on William Rodgers who married Frances Unknown. I am trying to connect this family with Crumpton family, namely Luke Crumpton who witnessed the signing of the will. The Last Will and Testament of William Rodgers was written in June 1799. In it he names his wife FRANCES, sons ROBERT and JOHN, and daughters TABBIE HUNTER and MARY SAXON. Witnesses are R. L. Rodgers, John Saxon and Luke CRUMPTON. In 1788, Tabitha (Tabbie) Rodgers married John Hunter (b.1768 Laurens Co,SC-d.1835 Laurens Co,SC). He became Judge of Sup. Court and maintained a home in Charleston, as well as a large plantation in Laurens County. I'm told that was quite common for large planters of that period. It has also been written that he owned the best horses and saddle gear in the state, and never backed down from a wager that "his'n could outrun your'n". The Hunters had three children born to them, but a son and a daughter died in childhood, and only the oldest, daughter ZELPHA lived to adulthood. She married John H. Crumpton of Greenville on 23 Nov 1806. >John Hunter died in 1835. At his estate sale on 13 Sept 1835, among those >listed as purchasers are: >John Crumpton >Jas. Crumpton >William Crumpton >Luke Crumpton > >References: >1790 Federal Census - Laurens County, SC, Roll M 637 - 11 >Conveyance Register of Greenville County, SC, E, 174. >Charleston Gazette, 1 Dec 1806 >1810 Census, Charleston District, SC >"Colonial Families of the Carolinas", Gates, Regional Publishing, pp. 31-35 >Abstracts, Deeds and Titles, Laurens County, SC, 1801-18 >Estate Partitions in the Emanuel District Court of Equity, 1822-1850, p. 125 Request information on this Judge John Hunter family and John Crumpton's family. 2. Toni Britton
    3. Still looking for my elusive George W. Rodgers, b. abt 1824 in PA, mar. Elizabeth Bixler in OH, and settled in Noble Co. IN.!!! While searching, I copied an article from "Noble County 150 years". The article's subject is Oliver Farwell Rogers (born Rodgers) of Reading Vt., who was the youngest of seven orphaned children of Marstin Rodgers and his wife (name unknown), who died in a "spotted fever" epidemic in Reading, VT. Little is known of his early life, except his siblings names, Edda, Martha, Caroline, Patricia, Sarah and Thomas. Oliver was born about 1811, and married Mariah Bradburn of PA in Cleveland, OH July 4, 1839 or 1842. Their obituaries differ....... Article goes on to tell about Oliver's life in Noble Co., IN. There is a second article on Robert C. ROGERS, b. in Blackford Co., IN. in 1923, the oldest of 3 children born to Charles Walter Rogers and Bertha Payne....Article goes on to tell about his life in Noble Co. Hope this might be a help to other listers. I can provide the rest of the article, if anybody is interested. Keep Searching! Toni

The only problem is that there is no trace of his baptism there or of any Rodgers family living in the area. The first names seem to have been passed down. Would anyone happen to be researching this man or someone with the same name? Philippa Garnsey Sydney, Australia email: [email protected]
