This may not be the correct place to ask this information so please forgive me if I've come to the wrong place. I'm at a complete stand still in my search to find my father. I've been looking for over 30 years. I just don't have much information and could use some searching tips from you experts. Here's my basic info: I have the following data: Full name DOB (Not sure if he is still living or not) His mother's name His mother's age, and date of death His mother's place of death A previous address belonging to his parent's (not the last) My parents divorce date His Air Force ID number The month and year he separated from the Air Force I have information on how to obtain the death certificate of his first son (my older brother) That's every bit of information I have been able to scrap together in 30 years and it has not gotten me very far. Most of it has led me know where. I thought I came across a SSN but as far as I can tell it is not a real SSN. If anyone can tell me how to verify if I have an actual SSN number that would be a big help. Maybe I do have his SSN and just don't know how to verify the number correctly. This is something I know absolutely nothing about. I would greatly appreciate any help that your experience and kindness can bring. Thank you in advance for your help. May God bless you all! Have a wonderful day, Steve
A quick question what years did he serve, or his age??? If he' s in mid to late 70's might be WWII vet, early 70's Korea, 45-55 maybe Vietnam???? Might check with veterans of the correct war for help or information especially if you know where and when he served. Was he disabled/war related disability???? Could he have belonged to the VFW or DAV, Shriners, Elks, Moose, Lions or maybe if their's was a church wedding church records???? If you have your grandmother or mother's obit, check pall bearers names. if you know funeral home, check the guest list for them???? Just throwing out ideas of places often overlooked by people. Not sure of the females location, but if in the South check DAR or Daughters of the Confedreacy for information. Or for your dad if it applies could he have belonged to the Sons of the Confederacy???? You know where they used to live. Have you checked to see if any of their old neighbors still live closeby???? It sounds silly but my grt. grandfather when he died at the age of 82 was born and spent his entire life in the same house. Maybe someone from the old neighborhood might be a distant kin, or went to school with your parents, or even remember them or your grandparents Southern to the bone and proud member of the IBSSG --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? You could search the Social Security Death Index, you can find this at www.familysearch.org/, If he is deceased and was drawing SS he will be listed there. You could also check the newspapers in the town where his mother died for her obit, and you might gain some useful information there.
