I don't think that is what is being said here. As I see it, it all depends on what your needs are in a genealogy program as to which one will work best for you. If you want to make a book format when you have input all your data and be able to put pictures along with the people in your file--then one program might do that better than the others. If you want to be sure of entering old Quaker dates in the proper format--be sure the program you select can do this cleanly. The thing about TMG is that it is geered more to the professional genealogist who is inputting somewhat different and more varied data than most amateur hobby researchers. So the learning curve is high but the program is capable of doing many varied things. The simple fact is that you don't need to buy a racing car to drive once a week to the supermarket and church--there are cheaper and more efficient and easier to use cars to accomplish what you want--to get you from point A to point B and back again safely. Same with genealogy programs--different programs for different needs. Joan
