    2. I would not subscribe to any of these sites or magazines on genealogy until you have all of the information on your parents and grandparents. You can get as much free information out of rootsweb and ancestry now. Family search usually has a family history church close by and usually keep free computer discs of the state and city you are in and has a list of cd's you can order for about $5 and use in their library. They have local census on micro film you can search their indexs and search on micro film which you can copy. Your local library probably has a genealogy department that has books on census by state and federal census. They would have histories of your cities, probably the whole state and states next to yours. The library usually has ancestry.com plus on their computes. Then you can search ancestry.com getting into information you would have to pay for. There is a volunteer in the library to show you how to search, copy and get information. If you have a college library in town they have more information. They also have genealogy magazines you can read or copy articles on your family or other free websites. Join a local genealogy society and they will help you get information and local sites on the internet that can help you. This is all free-free-free. Then after you use these areas of genealogy, you can decide to pay for a website. All you have to pay for is copies which is 5 or 10 cents. Earl Gates
