The main problem with duplicates in the combined WorldConnect/Ancestry World Tree database is caused by the fact that when someone updates a GEDCOM they submitted through AWT (on the Ancestry side) unlike with WC (on the RootsWeb side)--the new file doesn't replace the old one--it is added to it, unless the person realizes they have a Remove (unpublish) the old file they had online when they put up the new one. It is wrong to say that Ancestry doesn't PERMIT removing the old information--they just make it harder for the submitter to know how to do it. You could tell the people who said they couldn't remove the old Ancestry-submitted GEDCOMs that the RootsWeb Review explained how to do this and they can find the information here: ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/review/20030409.txt Joan
