    1. Re: [RC-ROOTS] VA for vets
    2. Dear Opal, I searched ancestry.com for Anthony Finch and found him on two census records 1850 and 1860. Couldn't read the imagine but am copying the 1850 census: FINCH, ANTHONY   State: VA Year: 1850   County: Franklin County Record Type: Federal Population Schedule   Township: No Township Listed Page: 091   Database: VA 1850 Federal Census Index FINCH, ANTHONY   State: VA Year: 1860   County: Franklin County Record Type: Federal Population Schedule   Township: Rocky Mount P.O. Page: 277   Database: VA 1860 Federal Census Index Found a record of his marriage to Elizabeth F. Jenkins, Aug 1, 1842, sur Henry Jenkins in the Franklin ,Co. marriages 1786-1890 page 87 . You should write to the VA Archives and request a copy of his war record which should give his date of birth, records of his service, etc. Couldn't find a record of a penion paid to his widow,, but if a pension was requested there should be a record of it in the Virginia Ac=rchives. Also found an Anthony Finch listed in 1827,8,9,&30 in the Boston Directories but no other information. I am not sure if this your ancestor but it came up in the search at Ancestry.com. You might want to do some research in Franklin Co. at Rocky Mount for occupation, no.of children in the household , etc. You have the page number on the census so should be able to get a copy of the full census page and then you could check out newspapers or churches that he might have attended. Hope this helps a little Rosemary.
