Recently, reference was made in a posting about obtaining baptismal certificates from the Catholic Archdioceses of Atlanta, GA. I am interested in obtaining baptismal certificate for great uncle who lived in Pittsburgh, PA. Who do I contact? The Catholic Dioceses in Pittsburgh or the local church. Any specific procedures to follow. What information must I have to submit.
Hello, In my case the Baptismal certificates that I requested from the Church, were no longer held at the Church. They had been moved to the Archdiocese of Atlanta, GA. .....due to the date 1873 Ordinarily, if one knows the name of the Church and the date of baptism, it is always wise to contact the Church first and see if they have the records on hand. Dates are usually requested along with father and mothers name. When I request from Ireland I ask for the usual amount of the donation to cover the search.....some of these searches can be very lengthily. The second request that one sends can be send with the accompanying check. Do you know the name of the Church or parish or district.?
