Hello to All, Good luck to Phyllis in trying to find any tie to any Native ancestors. Verbal histories just don't cover detail. Mary Alice sent me a note mentioning her thoughts on Jeronimus Rapalie being possibly connected to our family and that she is keeping an open mind on the question. So, once more, into the fray. I, too, will keep an open mind on the question. And wish that I had more information available to settle this debate. But, even when I do, there will still be those who will not believe the facts because their minds have been made up. And they just don't have to accept these new facts, if they so choose. We have two Robblee wills from the 1790's from 2 separate areas. That of Thomas in Nova Scotia and William in Lanesborough, MA. I believe that the double b is significant to establishing the family in Europe and my research is continuing in that area. I also believe that Granville is a very significant name and clue in our ancestry. And note the names, Thomas, William, and Jeronimus, which I believe indicate different backgrounds. The most common spelling change in the name is to drop one b and this has happened in many parts of the family. The second is to change the o to u and drop one b. The Rapalie theory springs from the editor of the book, The History of the County of Annapolis, written just over one hundred years past. It is a theory because there has been no provable link as yet between the families, even in the recent past. Some plausibility continues because one branch of our family, Roblyer, whom I have as connected, changed their spelling to Raplee in NY about 1830. Oh, for more information. Fall is arriving here and the garden produce continues to move into storage. HOpe to hear from you soon. Bob
