As an individual who subscribes to many genealogy mailings lists, manages 5 of those at Rootsweb, and maintains several web sites, my e-mail address ( doug.detling@greencity.org ) is plastered all over the internet. I get hundreds of messages a day during a busy week--many of them spam. Dick Eastman, who publishes a periodic e-mail newsletter for genealogists, had a recent suggestion for using Google's gmail service as a method of filtering out spam. I have used my gmail e-mail address for some time, and decided to try Dick's suggested approach for managing my messages by having all my e-mail processed through my gmail account. It is working perfectly to reduce spam in my inbox, so I'm going to make this permanent. So, whether you see e-mail sent from doug.detling@gmail.com or doug.detling@greencity.org, it is from me. Replies to me can be sent to either e-mail address (it really doesn't matter which). Doug Detling
