Debby Bulmer-Raby, a new subscriber to the Roblee-L list, sent the following message a few days ago, which because of the way it was addressed was sent to the mail server which handles our subscriptions rather than the one handling messages. To ensure everyone gets this and Debby doesn't have to resend it, I am simply forwarding to the list. Welcome, Debby, to our little band of Roblee/Robblee/Rublee (et al.) researchers. Doug Detling Roblee-L list coordinator ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Debby Bulmer-Raby <debby_bulmer_raby@hotmail.com> Date: Jul 28, 2006 5:44 AM Subject: Sally Robblee Voight To: ROBLEE-L-request@rootsweb.com Hello cousins, ...and thank you for your most gracious letters of encouragement as I set off on this mad journey called genealogy! Jonathan Robblee & Sarah Price are GG's grandparents of mine. Mom's Grandma Warman ( Hanna Belle Robblee - John W Duke) lived with them for awhile. They resided at 29 Dominion Street, Moncton, Westmorland County, New Brunswick Canada for several years(- in the 1920's - most of mom's siblings were born here) then later to Broadway Street, Sunny Brae, Moncton. Mom remembers stories about her grandfather Jonathan Robblee riding the white horse down Main Street in the Orangemen's' Parade. She says her grandmother was so proud - as it was a great thing to do back then and very risky with the Catholic/Protestant rivalry. Mom remembers a story of two men coming to the house and on the way out setting the house on fire - mom didn't pay too much attention to the ramblings of an old lady, but now she wishes she'd listened more. My aunt in BC has the sword and cape. Mom also visited elderly cousins Hazel Miller, Helen Esler (sp?) in California and Sally Robblee Voight - I believe they were cousins or siblings who were originally from one of the New England States. Sally had a daughter Jean who was a nurse and a son but was estranged with both at the time of her death in the early 1970's. My parents had to go to Florida to look after her estate and burial. She was cremated and buried with her late husband. Fredrick Carl Voight, CH Gunners Mate USN, Arlington National Cemetery, Section 34, Site 687-A, Arlington, Va., USA. Dob: 7/11/1998- 04/03/1955. Mom has pictures of his gravestone and Sally's cremation urn. Besides boxes of letters, correspondence, pictures and funeral notices and newspaper clippings, mom also inherited Sally's duachound dog Duchess. The boxes areat my parents home in the dreaded basement - I am on holidays next week so maybe I can get up the nerve to attach the spider webs and get into the treasure trove. I remember growing up in Sunny Brae, Moncton , neighbors that were mom's cousins too - James & Orpha Robblee. I believe his family was from PEI. They had three children - I think they were Sandra, Doug and Billy. Debby -- Doug Detling
