Chronicle Herald CD- 11-24-70 Westville (This date was on a Tuesday) Ned Hale Passes Away Westville- Edward(Ned) Hale, Diamond St., died in the Aberdeen Hospital on Saturday following a lengthy illness. Born in Westville 77 years ago, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Hale, Drummond Crossing. An employee of Eastern Bakeries for over 20 years, he was well-known in the county, and following his retirement was employed at the Canteen in Stellarton. He attended the Gospel Hall, New Glasgow. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret MacLeod of Westville; one son, George(Ted), Stellarton; one daughter Marjorie(Mrs. Donald MacKnight), Musquodoboit Harbour; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was predeceased by five brothers; William and Charles, Westville; James, Stellarton; George Naylor, Thorburn; Thomas, Hillcrest, Alta; and four sisters: Sarah(Mrs. Robert Miller), Eva(Mrs. Blanchard Hough), both of Fayette City, Penn., Emily(Mrs.Myles ), Westville; and Lucy of Stellarton. Remains are resting at Eagles Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment will be in Auburn cemetery. Born 67 years ago he was a son of Mrs. Maude Hamilton and the late Alfred Hamilton of Stellarton. He was a member of Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton. Surviving besides his mother are a daughter, Phyllis (Mrs. Stuart Walters), MacLellan's Brook, with whom he resided; a son , Parker, Murray Harbour, P.E.I.; three grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Cecil, of Westville; Clarence, of Stellarton; Chester in Hamilton, Ont., two sisters, Mrs. Iza Mann of Halifax; Mrs. Helen Marks, Chatham, N.B. His wife, the former Edith Moore, predeceased him in 1970. The remains will rest at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Chronicle Herald CD- 09-26-70 New Glasgow (This date was on a Saturday) Passes Away In 61st Year New Glasgow- Mrs. Roy Hamilton, 73 John St., died early this morning in Aberdeen Hospital, following a short illness. Born in P.E.I. in 1910, she was the former Edith Belinda Moore, daughter of Mrs. Edward Moore and the late Mr. Moore and came with her family to Pictou County when a young girl. Surviving are her husband and mother, who is a guest at a Truro Nursing Home; a daughter Phyllis(Mrs. Stuart Walters), Greenwood, Kings Co., a son Parker, Sheet Harbour; and three grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: Joe in Perth,N.B.; Harry, Hamilton, Ont., three sisters: Alva(Mrs. Curtis Foote), Tatamagouche; Clara(Mrs. Maitland Stewart), Telford; and Minnie(Mrs. Jack Murray), Trenton. The remains will rest at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almond Ave., New Glasgow, after 7 o'clock this evening. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Hancock Dies Friday Stellarton- Lionel Frederick Hancock, Park St., died unexpectedly at his home Friday evening. Born in Glace Bay 53 years ago he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Hancock. He came to this area as a hockey player with the old New Glasgow Bombers. Mr. Hancock was an electrician with Thorburn Mining Company and a member of First Presbyterian Church, member and past master of Keith Masonic Lodge, Member of the Stellar Curling Club, and Branch 28, Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by his wife, the former Lavinia Carr, two brothers: Raymond and Lloyd, Hamilton, Ont.; three sisters: Mae(Mrs. David Buchanan), Anna(Mrs. Gerald Marshall), both of Hamilton, Ont.; Lizzie(Mrs. Walter MacDonald), Glace Bay. The remains will be transferred from the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home to his late residence at 7 o'clock this evening.
