Alfred was born about 1827-28, probably in Franklin, Franklin, VT. In 1850, Alfred was living with his parents in Franklin, VT, unmarried at age 33 (1850 VT census, Franklin). There is no further record of him in Vermont. I cannot find him in the 1860 census. Here is the new find: Alfred "Ruble", age 42, born in Vermont was a stockraiser living East Bear River, Yuba, CA in 1870. He was living with A. and Lydia Parker, both born in New York. A. Parker was a farmer, and it appears that Alfred was his employee. In 1880, he was living in Richland, Sacramento, CA when he is listed as a stockraiser in McKenney's Pacific Coast Directory 1880-81.
