Jane Penman, was the wife of Joseph Robblee of Tryon, Prince Edward Island. According to postings on the Robblee Digest, Jane was supposedly born in Charlottetown, PEI see Bob's posting below: Was she born in Ch'town or did she die there? Does anybody have any information on when her father, David Penman arrived on PEI and from where. I am descendend from George Penman, supposedly a brother to David Penman. They were both born in Torryburn, Fife, Scotland. According to Lucy Maude Montgomery, her ancestor George Penman came from New England and was a United Empire Loyalist and a paymaster with Lord Rollo. Her two great grandmothers were both daughters of George Penman, namely Ann/Nancy, who married Donald Montgomery and Elizabeth/Betsey, who married David Murray of Bedeque. Benjamin Cole of Bedeque, who married Isabella Robbins, was also a stepson of George Penman. George's third wife was the widow, Mary Cole and they lived at Richmond Bay, Lot 13 in PEI. I would be pleased to share any Penman family info with fellow researchers and hopefully we will find out how the Penman brothers arrived on PEI. Thank you, Edna Cudmore Ch'town, PEI Canada Good Morning, Shirley, I believe that I can help you with information on Jane Penman, b 1783 - 28 Nov 1864, in Charlottetown, married Joseph Robblee, who died in 1828 in Tryon, PEI. Thomas Gamble was a witness to part of Joseph Robblee's will and the PEI marriage records show her marrying him 13 Jan 1830. Hutchinson's Directory of 1861 lists Thomas Gamble, Cloth Dresser, aged 21-45, in Charlottetown living with a woman 60+. My thoughts would be Jane, now a widow, and a son by the same name as her second husband. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other Rob[b]lee connections. Both families seem to have lived opposite each other in PEI and NB. HOpe to hear from you soon. Bob Robblee
