    1. Re: Charles Milton Roblee - hotelman
    2. The Roblees seemed to have had an affinity for hotels! They had a long strip of land that they owned in North River, NY along the Hudson River and had ties to two very large hotels there. They built one and later bought the other. The hotels housed people traveling to the air cure for tuberculosis, to the Great Camps, and if they could afford it, to work on the lumber drives or in the emerging mining businesses. Both great hotels succumbed to fire and to economic changes and so were not rebuilt. The last hotel burned in the 1960s when the fire was so great that my grandfather, watching from three houses away, leaned on his barn to watch the spectacle and burned his hand from the heat of the blaze. Postcards and photos exist somewhere of both hotels, Dunlap's Hotel and The North River Hotel. Phyllis Reed
