    3. Hello Theresa and all our list cousins -- Well, finally, we know who the mysterious Northrup was the husband of Abigail Robblee. I have looked for him off and on for years and have never been able to turn him up. Poured over census for Northrups in Washington Co., looked for an Abigail Northrup in 1850, etc. If Abigail did indeed died so early, that is a good explanation. This does leave us with a little mystery about the supposed wife of Truman Ingalls. I suppose I will have to drag out my files and see what I can find. I will tell you that when I looked into Truman Ingalls, the whole thing didn't make sense to me. My notes say: "She died June 1, 1870 at 78 years and 11 months. She is buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Middle Granville, NY (Jenks, 1993). In 1850, a Truman Ingalls, age 59, lived in Hebron, NY with wife Susannah, age 57; it doesn't appear Abigail has married Truman Ingalls by that time. In 1860, an Abigail Ingalls, born about 1791, lived in Hebron with her husband Truman Ingalls, born about 1791. It makes sense that Abigail's body would have been brought back to Granville for burial. However, Truman's first wife apparently did not died until 26 Oct 1861-- according to the transcription of the Hebron cemetery. So, all of this is a bit iffy." If the Abigail that we are discussing truly did die so young -- then who is this Abigail who married Truman Ingalls, but not (apparently) until much later in life? I am interested in another "sighting" of a George Robblee. There is a marginal note in the Carpenter manuscript about George, but I have never been able to find a trace of him. Bob, you say you have him as a census stray? When and where? In a separate note, I will include a report on the family of Thomas Robblee - and am open to questions and critique! Cindy Walcott p.s. Now if we can just turn up Mr. Utter, husband of Abigail's sister Melinda!

    3. Hello Cindy & all, Cindy and All, We Northup's are stewn with "Carpenter's" in our lineage as well. Wonder if its the same family lines as ours ? All Northup/Northrup/Northrop's are from One family line. Northup's-Rhode Island, Northrup's also R.I. and Conn.(CT) and Northrop's from Ct. its just a matter of degree-1st or 2nd cousin's to the original starting point of Rhode Island. Cindy, it would appear that maybe this Truman and wife Susannah were divorced by the end of the 1850's and then married Abigail Roblee-Northup, OR as I have found many times- maybe she was just staying with the Ingalls at the time of the census and the census taker- wrote her in as an Ingall's? You would need to locate a marriage cert. to be sure. At least the search is narrowed down for you 1851-1859, and I would assume within the greater Granville area. I would also check the Mid year census, for NYstate as well, this may provide a little more info/insight in this matter- it would also narrow your search years (i.e.) 1855-1859. Sincerely, Theresa Alger and Walcott Family <asr141@copper.net> wrote: Hello Theresa and all our list cousins -- Well, finally, we know who the mysterious Northrup was the husband of Abigail Robblee. 3. I hope those Roblees and Carpenters are not direct relatives...My mom is Susan Diane Roblee, and my dad is William Fredrick Carpenter. My mom's dad was Leland Henry Scott Roblee which seems to be well documented, but I lose my Carpenter history with my Grandfather's dad Fredrick Carpenter. My Grandfather does not like to talk much about him. Gambled away the farm and left home when my Grandfather was 5 years old.
