Recently, a couple of messages have been posted to the list which exceeded the message board size, which is 40K for an individual message. Digests are sent when 70K or more in messages are received. As list administrator, I have a couple of suggestions or reminders. Please be assured these are in no way intended to discourage you from sending items to the list. In fact, as Phil Roblee pointed out in a recent post, it was good to see some increased activity on the list. 1. When replying to a message, simply remove all by the first few lines of a quoted message. Otherwise, if you reply to a message that is itself 39K, your reply will be held for administrative action, and will delay its posting to the list. 2. Do not send messages in HTML-format as Rootsweb's mail servers (and many recipients) cannot handle those. Send messges in plain text. 3. Do not include photographs, documents or PDF files as attachments. They will automatically send held for administrative action. If there are things you wish to share, please send them to me at my personal e-mail address (listed below) and I will post them on the Roblee web site at www.robleesonline.org. I'll also send a message to the list when these items are posted. 4. If you use "reply to list"--the default--please do not send a copy to Roblee-L@rootsweb.com (this is the old name of the list) as it will result in a second copy of your messages being sent to the list members (and two will be included in the next digest of messages). Regarding the messages retained for administrative review, I will split these up so they don't exceed 40K, and send through to the list. Doug Detling doug.detling@greencity.org
