Theresa -- I was trying to see what was the sum of information I know on Clarke Northrup and his children, as those early Granville families were so few, and of necessity intermarried. I did find an article on the descendants of Carr Northrup (Clarke's father) in the Register. Note that the author gives Reynolds another daughter, Catherine. Reynolds, by the way, is named after his maternal grandfather, Reynolds Knowles. Do you have better information about the children of Clarke and Mary (Knowles) Northrup? Cindy Generation One 1. Clarke1 Northrup, b. 2 Dec 1769 in N. Kingstown, Washington, RI, d. 1847 in Granville, Washington, NY. Clarke Northrup settled in Granville, NY, about 1791. He ran a tannery, was a farmer, and overseer of the poor. His property is currently owned by the Darius family. His will provided for all of his grandchildren. He and his wife Mary are buried in a small cemetery beyond the yellow house in Slyboro (North Granville). (Source: Theresa Caparco) At the time of the 1790 federal census, Joseph, David and Tibbets Northrup were all living in Granville, NY. In 1810, an Emmanual Northrup was living in the Robblee neighborhood. The family consisted of a male and female, both between 16 and 26. A few houses away lived Mintrus (female?) Northrup. Not too far away was Clark Northrup. 1810: Washington Co., NY William Northrup -- Cambridge, Washington, NY Asa Northrup -- Granville, Washington, NY Clark Northrup -- Granville, Washington, NY Emanuel Northrup -- Granville, Washington, NY Mintrus Northrup -- Granville, Washington, NY George Northrup -- Kingsbury, Washington, NY. He married Mary Knowles, 13 Mar 1791 in N. Kingstown, Washington, RI. Children: + 2 i. Reynolds Knowles2 Northrup b. 1793. 3 ii. Ephraim Northrup, d. bef 1880?. He married Minerva "Elmina" Hicks, b. 2 Dec 1822 in Granville, Washington, NY, (daughter of Joseph Hicks and Jerusha Roblee) d. bef 1880?. 4 iii. John Northrup. He married Elvira Eldred. 5 iv. Carr Northrup. He married Lucy Brown. 6 v. Emeline Northrup. She married (1) _____ Brown. She married (2) William Northrup. Generation Two 2. Reynolds Knowles2 Northrup, (Clarke1) b. 1793 in Granville, Washington, NY, d. 8 May 1860 in New York City???. "Reynolds K. Northrup built a tavern on the site of the present hotel in 1830. . ." (History of the Town of Ontario. Wayne County, NY. By George W. Cowles, 1895. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nywayne/ontario/cowlesontario.html) Reynolds Northrup had removed to Wayne, Ontario Co., NY by 1840, if he is the man listed as "Fennels" Northrup. That family consisted of: 1 male 10-14 1 male 20-29 (Joseph, age 21) 1 male 50-59 (born bet 1781-1790) 2 females 0-4 2 females 5-9 1 female 10-14 1 female 15-19 (Chloe, age 15) 1 female 40-49 (born bet 1791-1800) In 1850, he is not listed in Wayne Co. The Carr Northrup articles lists an additional child, Catherine, who married her first cousin Barzilla Brown, son of Emeline (Northrup) Brown. He married (1) Chloe _____, 1811/1812, d. est 1813. Children: 7 i. Infant3 Northrup, b. est 1813, d. at birth. He married (2) Abigail Robblee, 1815/1816, b. 13 Apr 1791 in Granville, Washington, NY?, (daughter of Thomas Robblee and Chloe Everts). Abigail's grandparents land-"Evarts" was adjacent to Reynolds'father's property in Slyboro [N. Granville] - known as the Clarke Northup farm- adjacent to the "Evarts Land". (Source: Theresa Caparco) Some information suggests that Abigail Roblee was the second wife of Truman Ingalls Abigail Ingalls died June 1, 1870 at 78 years and 11 months. She is buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Middle Granville, NY. Jenks notes that she may have been Abigail Roblee. (Jenks, 1993). In 1850, a Truman Ingalls, age 59, lived in Hebron, NY with wife Susannah, age 57; it doesn't appear Abigail has married Truman Ingalls by that time. In 1860, an Abigail Ingalls, born about 1791, lived in Hebron with her husband Truman Ingalls, born about 1791. It makes sense that Abigail's body would have been brought back to Granville for burial. However, Truman's first wife apparently did not died until 26 Oct 1861-- according to the transcription of the Hebron cemetery. So, all of this is a bit iffy. Children: 8 ii.
