Thanks to Helena for the Christmas Greetings. I am so sorry to hear of her broken arm. It sure does mess up the holidays. Get well soon, Helena. Thanks to Maeve for the encouragement. My mom always said we were "digging up old bones" with our genealogy research. I kind of thought she was afraid we would uncover some scandals. We have found a few, but that just makes things interesting. To answer Bergetta's questions.. I haven't found a Francis Baker in my husband's line. He is descended from Thomas Baker who was son of William, and on down. They came to Rhode Island from England. Thomas was good friends for awhile with Roger Williams who founded the Baptist Church in America. They later had a disagreement about church doctrine and Tom started his own church. I don't have a William Robblee or Roblee, that is proven yet, in my direct line. JEAN
Good Morning, All, Jean Baker has found Edward Roblee's {married Violet E. Mead} father, George Roblee of Chestertown. As usual, more information, more questions. The SSDI lists 2 George Roblees in the same area with about the same dates. George Roblee, 25 Jul 1895-Jul 1980, Chestertown, NY George Roblee, 11 Dec 1899- Jun 1975, Glen Falls, NY. From various sources, I have put this lineage together and used the George listed for Chestertown. I believe, based on the 1900 and 1920 US Census, that he is the son of William Robert? Roblee, b Dec 1879,and his wife Roda, b Jun 1881. William is listed in the 1900 Census at the home of Henry C. Roblee, b Jun 1856 and his wife Nancy Ada ?????, b Feb 1860. George is in the 1920 census at the home of Robert? and Roda. Perhaps someone with acess to those census records would be able to identify the entries further. And, perhaps we will, in the process, identify t he other George Roblee. Phyllis had some newspaper articles which included various Roblees, which may shed some light on this. The last deer for which I have a tag fell last evening which ends the season for us. There is no lack of venison in the freezer this year. No snow as yet, but the weather will bring that soon, I'm sure. Must run, but HOpe to hear from you soon. Bob
Snowing in Couer d'Alene all morning. Broke left arm (both bones with displacement) four weeks ago when I slipped on the ice. This is no fun especially around the holidays. Unable to do any handwork for at least another month. Happy holidays....phooey!...Merry Christmas to everyone from the Jordans. Helena (Robblee) Jordan
Violet MEAD ROBLEE was married to Edward ROBLEE. Edward was the son of George ROBLEE of Chestertown. My family knew Ed and Violet quite well and we all were aware of being related to Ed. I guess no one was that much into genealogy at the time, so extensive research was not done. Chestertown is about 10 miles from where I live. Violet and Ed were both well thought of in the community and were good people. Mildred and I should get together and talk, but we never seem to get around to it. There are also ROBLEEs and WALDRONs still living in North Creek(15 miles from here) who I should visit. Some folks are not receptive to family history so I am a little shy at trying. I got shot down a few years ago when researching my husband's family and am not anxious to have that happen again. Your Cowardly Cousin...JEAN THOMAS BAKER
Good Morning, All Winter is fast appoaching here above the 49th parallel and the woodstove has been on for about a month now. Hunting season has been a sucess with a moose and a couple ofdeer filling the freezer. There is no snow as yet and we may get all the outside details done without that covering everything. I have heard from Ann [Roblee] Yarnell this week and she has contacted Karen [Roblee] Skaggs in Indiana. After finding Doug's message at the email site in September, she knew Karen was her niece, and is now in touch after 45 years. I also got Cindy's note about Edward G. Roblee, a stray in my files. So, this morning, I got out the map of NY. It appears that Violet E. Roblee lived less that 50 miles from North Creek or Johnsburg. And we don't know who she is. A friend of mine was doing up his family tree several years ago. He mentioned to his son that a classmate was a cousin. Which was referred to that lad's parents next day. They did not know of the relationship and had to be shown. They live less than 30 miles east of us. It appears that this has happened in this case. I do have Donald Frazier and his wife Mildred [Roblee] Frazier in my files as strays. I found his obit some time ago and will add Edward to the family. Father? I wonder if Ruth could contact Mildred in Chestertown and see if she could fill in the blanks for us. And anything else about the rest of her family she would like to share with us. With the onset of winter, perhaps I will be able to spend some more time with genealogy. I didn't realize that I would be as busy as I am after retiring. HOpe to hear from you soon. Bob

I am, of course, grateful for the generousity and help of the members of our little band of family (we're not big enough to form a family association, it would seem). My address is as shown below in Phil's message. (I sent this message once, but for some reason it didn't go through) Hi Cousins: Our webmaster, Doug Detling, maintains http://www.robleesonline.org/ for all of us. He does it without asking for financial assistance, although it is not a free service. We all benefit greatly from his efforts, and from his expense. We should not leave Doug to shoulder our entire burden. This is my annual plea for those of us who use the website and mailing list to help pay the bills. THEY ARE DUE NOW! I have committed $50 each year, and if Doug will verify his mailing address (I know it has changed recently), I will get my check out to him ASAP. Doug, I have your address as: Douglas G. Detling 2473 Corona Ave. Medford, OR 97504-4730 Cousins, please do what you can, even it it's only $5.00. We have a great thing in our Roblee/Robblee/Rublee website, and in Doug Detling. We need to keep it that way. Thank you Doug...Thank you for you ongoing support and commitment. Phil Roblee Columbus OH

Things have been awfully quiet lately so-o-o here is another news item It is more advanced than the Wall St Journal research for DNA. IBM and National Geographic [so it can't be a scam] are researching to find a common ancester by creating a global family tree from human DNA. Visit www.nationalgeographic.com/genographic for details. They will explain the details-all results are kept secure. Winter is coming and this sounds interesting to me--how about you. Connie
I found this when cleaning out my e-mail folders (it was misfiled, and I don't think I forwarded it to the list. http://www.rubleeforcongress.com/ I don't have Greg Rublee in my database. I would guess he may be descended from the family who settled in Wisconsin from Scandinavia, and took the name Rublee. Cindy Walcott
