Bonnie
Good Morning, All, Thanks, Jean, for sending that partial obit. I have had some strays in my files for some time and now connections are coming clearer. In the past, I found messages from Christine Skelnik and Tim Freeburn questioning their lineages. I replied to both but never received any answers. Anyhow, onward. Addie Elizabeth Roblee, 19 Jul 1884 - 5 Jan 1968, was the daughter of Hugh W. Roblee and Sophia Russell, married Henry Carlton Freeburn, 10 Nov 1882 - 14 Jun 1970, d North Creek, and had about 12 or so children. The obit is for Jay, known as Junior, Freeburn, son of Henry and Addie. He was probably the youngest. It mentions a sister, Louise Roblee. Probably Carla Louise, d bef 2005, wife of Donald Roblee? b 1912? Is he still with us? Lyle Roblee, married Helen J. ?????, daughter married Jessie or Gene Freeburn and their son is the Timothy from above. From the obit. I have much of the rest of the family but any further details forthcoming will be gladly added to the files. Keep it coming. HOpe to hear from you soon. Bob

Hi Bob -- I emailed Jean Baker last night with all my info, and should have thought to copy the Roblee list on it! Here it is: My paternal grandfather was Roblee Towne, son of Helen Roblee and J. Blaine Towne. This is what I found at Greenridge Cemetery: Hamilton A. Roblee, born 1832 and died 1922, married to Helen C. Martin Hamilton and Helen's children: -- Charles H. Roblee, born 1856 and died 1876 (on his twentieth birthday), no wife -- William T. Roblee, born 1865 and died 1936, married first to Frances King and second to Norma Rugg (children unknown) -- Mary Roblee, born 1870 and unknown date of death, married to F. Sheridan Vaughan (two children that I know of: F. Sheridan Vaughan Jr. and Roblee S. Vaughan) -- Chauncey Roblee, born 1854 and died 1938, married to Mary Gildersleeve (I believe they only had one child -- my great-grandmother Helen R. Roblee, unknown date of birth and I believe she died in 1970 or 1971) Helen married James Blaine Towne and had three children: -- Mary-Elizabeth, who died at 7 days old -- James Hubert, who died a couple years ago (I believe he was born 1925) -- Roblee Warren, later changed to Roblee David -- my grandfather. He was born in 1917 and died in 1980 My grandfather Roblee Towne married Mary Loretta Roohan, and they had six children: -- Marylee -- Stephen -- my dad -- Loretta -- David (middle name Roblee) -- Denise -- Michele My dad, Stephen Towne, married my mom, Susanne Oakley, and they had six children: Katherine (me!) Benjamin (middle name Roblee) Jonathan Molly (interesting to see one of the Reubens was married to a Molly!) Stephanie Elizabeth I married Stephen Sherwin, and we have one son: Thomas Roblee! That's us! And I have a first cousin with the first name Roblee, and a first cousin with the middle name Roblee. I don't know what happened to William Roblee's line. I was so excited to read your email that listed Reuben and Phoebe --> Reuben and Molly --> Thomas and Laura --> Hamilton! I was also excited to hear that you have a letter from Hamilton to Helen in 1908 -- as far as I know, this is the first time any of us has researched our Roblee line, so I doubt any of us knew about that, or anything else about her genealogical work. My dad was about 20 when Helen died, and remembers that she was described as a "handsome" woman who was the organist at our local Baptist church. He also remembers that Helen's father -- Chauncey Roblee -- co-owned a business with Orwell Towne -- James Blaine's father (James Blaine and Helen eventually married)! It was the Towne-Roblee Hardware Company or the Roblee-Towne, I don't remember which (and I can't find the poster at the moment). It was on Broadway in Saratoga Springs. I know genealogy searches aren't always so easy (I've been researching my other lines as well), so I am very grateful that this one has been so productive so quickly! I would love to receive the files via email from Cindy Walcott. My family will be very excited to hear about all of this! Thanks again Bob. I found it interesting to hear of Roblees in Saratoga County. My ancestor, Samuel Roblee (c. 1777-1864 married Miriam or Marion Hinckley who may have been from the Town of Greenfield and Wilton , about a few miles NW and NE of Saratoga Springs. There was a Nathan Hinckley in the area abt 1775-1820 who had many children. -----Original Message----- From: Douglas G. Good Morning, Jean, We have Hamilton in our files. Kate can contact me or Cindy for further details. Also, would you be able to check on the family of Samuel S. Roblee of Brant Lake. My files refer to 2 children, a boy and and a girl and the source is Milo R. Roblee and his work around 1900. The daughter is Lena, married Clinton Newton, I believe. I'm wondering if the son is the George Roblee, 1899-1975 of Glen Falls, NY. Let me know if anything turns up and hope to hear from you soon. I was not aware of any ROBLEEs in Saratoga. That is very interesting about Kate TOWNE SHERWIN's line. I live about 50 miles from Saratoga and have done some research on some of my other lines in that area. Haven't seen any ROBLEEs along the way, but will be looking now. Hi all, just thought I'd let you all know that my g-uncle passed away Dec 1/05. His name was Dean Robblee, son of George & Bertha Robblee of Spalding, SK. Terri (Robblee) Robinson Barry's Bay, ON
Good Morning, Cindy, Winter is here and has brought snow and minus 20F temperatures. Warmer they say toward the weekend. I have some strays which may lead to this man's lineage. There are 2 Emery Rublees from WI. in the SSDI which aren't in our files. One b 1896 and the other b 1906. So, here are my thoughts, subject to correction and addition. I found an obituary for Phillip B. Rublee of MO. b 1908, son of Julius and Ella. His sisters Winnifed and Margaret Rogers Pellerin named him in another obit. Julius M. Roblee, son of Julius N. is listed in Appleton in 1896, but then disappears from the records there. Is one of the Emerys his? Does either one of them lead to Greg? Always, more information, more questions. Hope to here from you soon.\ Bob ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alger and Walcott Family" <asr141@copper.net> To: <ROBLEE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 18, 2005 9:53 AM Subject: A Rublee is running for US Congress > > http://www.rubleeforcongress.com/ > > I don't have Greg Rublee in my database. The Roblees seemed to have had an affinity for hotels! They had a long strip of land that they owned in North River, NY along the Hudson River and had ties to two very large hotels there. They built one and later bought the other. The hotels housed people traveling to the air cure for tuberculosis, to the Great Camps, and if they could afford it, to work on the lumber drives or in the emerging mining businesses. Both great hotels succumbed to fire and to economic changes and so were not rebuilt. The last hotel burned in the 1960s when the fire was so great that my grandfather, watching from three houses away, leaned on his barn to watch the spectacle and burned his hand from the heat of the blaze. Postcards and photos exist somewhere of both hotels, Dunlap's Hotel and The North River Hotel. Phyllis Reed
