Thank you for providing the will. That does clear up the issue of Hulda as a former wife and not Luther's wife. Roxy Downs remains my gggrandmother. Still I know little about Roxy Downs and wondering if anyone else out there also shares Roxy. Also Thomas speaks of his first child, a daughter, that he cuts out of his will...saying that he provided for her education and care and because of Hulda, he did not have the comfort of seeing his lst child. Does anyone know the name of this child? I'm wondering if the lst born took the name of her step-father when Hulda remarried. With so many Roblee and Waldron in my Warren County lineage I can't help wondering what happened to this little girl. I also have another mystery, but this has to do with the name Morehouse and I've been thinking that perhaps one of you may have a clue. Not long ago I discovered that my graandmother, Ella Morehouse, who was the daughter of George Morehouse and Caroline Delaba, had 6 sisters and a brother, John. All of these children were born between l883 and l900 Warren County, New York. I have dates of birth, death, marriage. Three were married -the surnames, Millington, Leon Howard (married Esther) George Putnam, married Nancy Jane, and John Beadnell-Ida Morehouse. Does anyone know of these people or their children? Of course, answers many times only bring along more questions. Gloria Waldron Hukle P.O. There are 3 things I did notice in the will of Thomas. 1- It was made/signed 26 May 1825. 2- Thomas mentions this mysterious Hulda himself as a former wife- not the wife of Luther Roblee as mentioned in our Northup notes. So, that clears up one issue. 3- If the will was probated in 1831- and Abigail is petitioned as an interested party, then she could't have died in July 1825- as has been our family "Lore" Thank-you guys. I think I'm understanding my family a little better now. Wish someone would check on this Chloe Roblee aforementioned, as the possible 1st wife of Reynolds, and her stat's as to birth/death/children? Hello All, Hope everyone is well. This would then give me a whole picture of my ggg grandfather.(Reynolds) All my graditude, Theresa. PS. Sending photo's of Chloe Everts Northup-Blythe and family Also a pic of one of her son's- Albert W. Blythe with 2 of his cousins-Blythe. Sincerely, Theresa. Hello, All, Is there a possiblility that the first wife of Reynolds Northup might have been Chloe? Roblee, daughter of Thomas Roblee, b 1761 and his first wife? HOpe to hear from you soon. Bob
Dear Phil, Hello to you. Sorry, I do not- I wrote only what we know from our short fragmented notes on the Roblee-Evarts family, and we never knew why they were there. There was no notation as to the marriage of Reynolds to Abigail or a last name even. Just Thomas' name Chloe Everts name and the children- but our notes never included Reynolds or Abigail's name- as we would have realized what it meant alot sooner, I'm sure. I'm thinking the note taker- had put it aside for the time being and never got back to it- to complete it. This is why we never knew Reynolds 1st or 2nd wife's name, other than a reference to a "Chloe" ( suspected 1st wife's name) at the top of the sheet- then skips a few spaces and starts the Roblee-Evarts list. Family "Lore" has been that both 1st & 2nd wives died in childbirth- which now seems, may or may not be the case. We Northup's are equally at odd's with this revelation. It has astounded us...can you imagine? But, we have come to understand the morays of that era, divorce was a scurge upon a family in those days, and has only since after the 1950's been acceptable in society. We the Northup's are now re-thinking the whole situation, based on Lore- to save family honor- of course. Any input greatly welcomed, Sincerely, Theresa. PS, It does make sense about a divorce though, as within 2 years Reynolds remarried and left Granville, children in tow, for Ontario Center, Wayne Co. Maybe to escape the "heat" of a looming scandel ? Phil Roblee <problee@ohsers.org> wrote: Theresa: You list Calvin, born 1787, married Laura Evarts. Do you have supporting or additional info on this? This is for Theresa. RE: The Children of Thomas and Chloe. I am really puzzled. I have Luther Roblee born April 8, l785 in Granville, Washington Co. NY, died Oct. l0, l860 in North Creek and buried in Baptist Cemetery> So far so good. But you list Hulda as his wife. According to my records he married Roxy Downs who was born March 21, l788 and died l858 in North Creek..buried same cemetery. Was Roxy a nickname for Hulda or Was another wife Huda? Luther had a Jr. Luther Roblee Jr. Born at North Creek l813 married Margaret Ann Waldron also born l813. Luther and Margaret Ann, married were married June 24th, l832 & had 4 children that I know of ...Elisha, Elilza, Charles and Hugh. Hugh Roblee born l845, married Sophia Russell and they had Etta who married my great grandfather Walter Waldron. Walter and Etta had 3 sons (I have a photo I can email over) l of those sons was Jesse James Waldron who married Ella Morehouse --my grandparents. Can anyone make this clear? Doug: Evidently I am in error for my work. I have been sending messages to Roblee-L@rootsweb.com. Tell me again where my messages should go. other than the hot place. Is the Roblee message board roblee@rootsweb.com still viable. I think that you stated that if a messasge was posted to it, the message is automatically posted on Roblee-L but Roblee-L doesn't exist any longer. My February Roblee-L ( which doesn't exist anymore) opens to java script and is not readable. My Mac makes it difficult to understand what is happening as my Aol messages go out in what ever fashion they wish. I have seen once a preference that allowed me to send in simple text but that is different than what you suggest. You are so far ahead in the technology that I am afraid that I can not keep up. Sometiimes when February-roblee-L does come up it only has one message. i do know that ancestry.com is sorting messages to put on a new larger server. Maybe that is what is going on. Please don't post this. Hi Everyone- On this American holiday here is a good saga for all Roblee decendents... I'm in receipt of descendents of Luther Roblee. I'm not sure if Doris Patton the Johnsburg (No. Creek) Town Historian sent this or not. In any event dozens of Roblee have married Waldrons for nearly two hundred years! Just Amazing! And all these people are decendents of Resolved Waldron As far as I can determine... All the Waldrons from the North Country began with William Waldron born l783 and Judike Bradt born l786 and married in l804. This couple had 14 children. Chloe Everts Roblee-Thomas is in my direct line ...Etta Roblee my great grandmother, Hugh Roblee born l845, my great-grandfather, Luther Roblee born April 8, l785 in Granville, Washington County, NY. and died in North Creek, N.Y. is buried in that Cemetery was my gggrandfather. Luther married Roxey Downs who was born-l788 and died in North Creek in l858. Luther married again..Betsy? Scores of Roblee are buried Union Cemetery in North Creek. Luther and Roxy had 6 children (Isaac born l830 (Civil War Vet) married Sally Ann Waldron (another of the l4 children of Wm. and Judike)-They had 8 children, one-Abbie who married S. F. Monthony.) Other Luther and Roxy children Mary -born in l806 , d l890-married 3 times, Wm. Martin, Floyd Whitcomb, Flynn Whitcomb Eliza-born l807 m. Charles Cotrill Luther Jr. who married Margaret Waldron --had Hugh, Etta who married Walter Waldron who was the son of Daniel Waldron and Asenath Hills. Daniel ...one of the l4 children of William Waldron and Judike Bradt.(my line) Betsey D. Roblee born l822 who married William Henry Waldron ...another son of the l4. Gloria Gloria Waldron Hukle P.O. I have a copy of his will, and many of the dates came from Lenore Malinda Roblee. Was the wife of Calvin Roblee, b 24 May 1787, Laura Evarts? We show Fanny Frances? I have Truman Ingalls?as the second husband of Abigail Roblee, bur Granville. and I have seen this gravesite. We will need Jean to revisit there and confirm the dates. Theresa believes Abigail is buried in North Creek. Can you confirm this, Phyllis? I have visited the gravesite of Thomas and Chloe in Granville and this is the first I have heard of them being in North Creek. Was George born in 1797? Source? He may be a stray I have found in the Census. Can we contact the folks in Granville and include them in our discussions? Once again, for me, the folks interested in genealogy have connected with us and provided tremendous information. HOpe to hear from you sooh. Bob: We don't know the birthdate of Calvin Roblee who married Laura Everts. We know he died Feb 2, 1835 in Fort Ann, Washington County, NY, and that he left Laura with at least 2 young children. She later married ______ McKnight, she died Nov 21, 1880, and is buried in Freedom, Cattaraugus Co., NY, next to her brother and father, and near her son, Orlando. Laura was born in 1805, and we believe Calvin wasn't much older. If that's true, then he's not your Calvin born in 1787. If we can figure out where this Calvin came from, I suspect a whole lot of pieces to the puzzle will come together. I hope all is well. It's nice to see so much activity on the Roblee list. Reposting, to keep the thread complete. Mona Rhone's message forwarded a message from Theresa Caparco, which I sent through to the list. This is the last of three forwarded messages.
