    3. Good Morning, I have been in the paper files again and have a couple of questions that may now be answered? In notes from Florence Allen, wife of Joseph Henry Roblee, possibly sent to Beulah Roblee, wife of William Wallace Roblee, she mentions that her sister was the mother of Thomas Northup, orthopedic doctor of Morristown, NJ. Does anyone else know of this tie? Also, in those notes, she mentions Mrs. Helen Roblee Bernard of Granville. Did Marion Roblee, married Edward Bernard, have a daughter? Or is this someone else of whom I am not aware? HOpe to hear from you soon. Bob

    3. I came across an archive from Brenda Hopkins related to Genevieve Roblee. Genevieve was my mom's aunt, and I am sure that my mom has some information that she might be willing to share. I found this journal that refers to Alma, Henry and Genevieve. http://www.lcmm.org/images/img_education/img_educator_resources/bartley_journal/bartley_pg_1201-1413.pdf I have also found some information on Henry and a few of the churchs that he was a pastor at. The one in Glen Ellyn, Illinois that he served at had a fire and was rebuilt, but the records are gone. There is one in Sycamore, Illinois that has some information on him. I am in the process of filling in the blanks before all the information and pictures become disconnected from the people. --------------------------------- Sucker-punch spam with award-winning protection. Doug ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Theresa Caparco <shelatindances2004@yahoo.com> To: Roblee@rootsweb.com Date: Tue, 6 Mar 2007 16:18:18 -0800 (PST) Subject: Children of Reynolds. Hello Cindy and All, Yes, its true, 2 daughters, 1 named Catherine Sarah b. 1828- my gg. and 1 named Sarah Catherine b.1837 (Have no clue as to why??) My gg Catherine Sarah never married- her reputation had been compromised and everyone in Ontario Center had known this. She had never dated as well. All we do know is that from the bible of Hannah B. Knowles- Amy Knowles and Mary Knowles cousin and in it she had written." An "Incident" has taken place at the home of my nephew Reynolds as his daughter Catherine, I am afraid shall not able to overcome." The "incident" at those times was proper speak for a lady, a true lady would never utter the word Rape nor write of it.-Morays of those days. We do know that Sarah was young when her mother Mary died and there had been an on-going rivalry between Sarah and her older sister, Catherine. As Sarah waited until after the death of her father, Reynolds in 1860- to run off with Barzilla Brown. There had been doubt so I pleaded with the known gg grandchildren of Sarah & Barzilla Brown for a DNA scan. If Barzilla was not the father- I would only have certain DNA factors in common with them- from the fact that their gg and my gg were sisters. I share 54% DNA markers with those descendants of Sarah & Barzilla Brown- which only means as we were told- Barzilla had to be the father of Catherine's child- proof positive. I however have chosen not to acknowledge him as my gg grandparent-for obvious reasons- I have though made addendem notes on my genealogy- w/ copies of the DNA results. Barzilla is not part of my Tree genealogy. Please note * Barzilla Brown is the son of Reynolds sister Emaline H. Northup. The families were always fighting over this issue- with many trips by both sets of siblings back and forth from Granville & Ontario- we believe its because Emaline wanted to visit with her son's child- and Reynolds would not allow it or allow Barzilla to enter his home.Rumor has it- Reynolds broke off all ties with his own sister over this issue. From family rumor it had been very nasty for the last 8 years of Reynolds life. My g-grandfather was born in 1852-Reynolds died 1860. As to the older children of Reynolds- We believe the first 3 are Abigails because of their middle names "Evarts" this really only makes sense to us. The last 3 we believe are Mary Northup's and yes it was her maiden name her parents are: John Henry Northup of the Deerfield Northrup's and Deborah Northup of Granville- we have thus far, been unable to track these two pedigree's past this point, and it is frustrating ! This is why I spend much time searching records in Granville & spending much time with our leading expert genealogist Warren whom lives in Granville, along with cleaning and repairing of headstones there. I also want to learn the last name of Reynolds first wife as well. These are our only obsticles in our genealogy. PS. Once a headstone is cleaned properly- its as good as new- very readable. Will send examples of my work with this e-mail. 3 stages, Begin-Middle-End. A headstone such as this, takes about 6 cleanings and about 10 days time involvement, if it is Marble...I have had only moderate luck with Slate & Concrete headstones thus far. 3. Thanks, Theresa. This is helpful. Reynolds really had two daughers Catherine Sarah, who had a child by Barzilla Brown, and Sarah Catherine, who married him? Very odd! Did Catherine Sarah every marry? Also, it appears that the first two children form one "group" and the last four a second "group." Do you assume thatr the first two are Abigail's children? Also, you call Reynold's second wife Mary Northrup. Was her maiden name Northrup as well as her maiden name? I think you said you didn't know whose daugher she was? 2. Alger and Walcott Family
    3. Theresa -- I was trying to see what was the sum of information I know on Clarke Northrup and his children, as those early Granville families were so few, and of necessity intermarried. I did find an article on the descendants of Carr Northrup (Clarke's father) in the Register. Note that the author gives Reynolds another daughter, Catherine. Reynolds, by the way, is named after his maternal grandfather, Reynolds Knowles. Do you have better information about the children of Clarke and Mary (Knowles) Northrup? Cindy Generation One 1. Clarke1 Northrup, b. 2 Dec 1769 in N. Kingstown, Washington, RI, d. 1847 in Granville, Washington, NY. Clarke Northrup settled in Granville, NY, about 1791. He ran a tannery, was a farmer, and overseer of the poor. His property is currently owned by the Darius family. His will provided for all of his grandchildren. He and his wife Mary are buried in a small cemetery beyond the yellow house in Slyboro (North Granville). (Source: Theresa Caparco) At the time of the 1790 federal census, Joseph, David and Tibbets Northrup were all living in Granville, NY. In 1810, an Emmanual Northrup was living in the Robblee neighborhood. The family consisted of a male and female, both between 16 and 26. A few houses away lived Mintrus (female?) Northrup. Not too far away was Clark Northrup. 1810: Washington Co., NY William Northrup -- Cambridge, Washington, NY Asa Northrup -- Granville, Washington, NY Clark Northrup -- Granville, Washington, NY Emanuel Northrup -- Granville, Washington, NY Mintrus Northrup -- Granville, Washington, NY George Northrup -- Kingsbury, Washington, NY. He married Mary Knowles, 13 Mar 1791 in N. Kingstown, Washington, RI. Children: + 2 i. Reynolds Knowles2 Northrup b. 1793. 3 ii. Ephraim Northrup, d. bef 1880?. He married Minerva "Elmina" Hicks, b. 2 Dec 1822 in Granville, Washington, NY, (daughter of Joseph Hicks and Jerusha Roblee) d. bef 1880?. 4 iii. John Northrup. He married Elvira Eldred. 5 iv. Carr Northrup. He married Lucy Brown. 6 v. Emeline Northrup. She married (1) _____ Brown. She married (2) William Northrup. Generation Two 2. Reynolds Knowles2 Northrup, (Clarke1) b. 1793 in Granville, Washington, NY, d. 8 May 1860 in New York City???. "Reynolds K. Northrup built a tavern on the site of the present hotel in 1830. . ." (History of the Town of Ontario. Wayne County, NY. By George W. Cowles, 1895. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nywayne/ontario/cowlesontario.html) Reynolds Northrup had removed to Wayne, Ontario Co., NY by 1840, if he is the man listed as "Fennels" Northrup. That family consisted of: 1 male 10-14 1 male 20-29 (Joseph, age 21) 1 male 50-59 (born bet 1781-1790) 2 females 0-4 2 females 5-9 1 female 10-14 1 female 15-19 (Chloe, age 15) 1 female 40-49 (born bet 1791-1800) In 1850, he is not listed in Wayne Co. The Carr Northrup articles lists an additional child, Catherine, who married her first cousin Barzilla Brown, son of Emeline (Northrup) Brown. He married (1) Chloe _____, 1811/1812, d. est 1813. Children: 7 i. Infant3 Northrup, b. est 1813, d. at birth. He married (2) Abigail Robblee, 1815/1816, b. 13 Apr 1791 in Granville, Washington, NY?, (daughter of Thomas Robblee and Chloe Everts). Abigail's grandparents land-"Evarts" was adjacent to Reynolds'father's property in Slyboro [N. Granville] - known as the Clarke Northup farm- adjacent to the "Evarts Land". (Source: Theresa Caparco) Some information suggests that Abigail Roblee was the second wife of Truman Ingalls Abigail Ingalls died June 1, 1870 at 78 years and 11 months. She is buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Middle Granville, NY. Jenks notes that she may have been Abigail Roblee. (Jenks, 1993). In 1850, a Truman Ingalls, age 59, lived in Hebron, NY with wife Susannah, age 57; it doesn't appear Abigail has married Truman Ingalls by that time. In 1860, an Abigail Ingalls, born about 1791, lived in Hebron with her husband Truman Ingalls, born about 1791. It makes sense that Abigail's body would have been brought back to Granville for burial. However, Truman's first wife apparently did not died until 26 Oct 1861-- according to the transcription of the Hebron cemetery. So, all of this is a bit iffy. Children: 8 ii. Mary Knowles Northrup, b. 1817 in Granville, Washington, NY, d. 1901 in Ontario, Wayne, NY.4 She married Alvah "Alvy" J. Atwood, est 1840 in Ontario, Wayne, NY (prob), b. abt 1817 in Hartford, Washington, NY?, (son of Selah Atwood and Amy Straight). 9 iii. Joseph Evarts Northup, b. 1819 in Granville, Washington, NY,4 d. 1909 in Ontario, Wayne, NY.4 He married Charlotte Webb. 10 iv. Chloe Evarts Northup, b. 19 Jul 1825 in Granville, Washington, NY,4 d. 28 Jun 1889 in Ontario, Wayne, NY.4 She married William James Blythe, Rev., 3 Aug 1849, b. 5 Jan 1828, d. 4 Sep 1874 in Ontario, Wayne, NY (prob), buried in Ontario Ctr. 2. Doug, Do know if Roblee is being represented at the NE genealogy conv at Hartford end of April? Gloria Gloria Waldron Hukle P.O. This list is not connected to any other mailing list, and we do not (and don't intend to) have a gateway to any other genealogy forum.
