    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: DavidSchimka Surnames: Robinson Thompson Barnes Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.robinson/8791.2.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: As Helen @Hewick mentioned, the father of Francis Robinson, William Robinson, is recognized as a Patriot by the Daughters of the American Revolution for providing support to the cause; namely Beef and Blacksmith work. The DAR are said to be sticklers for documentation proving lineage. William Robinson's DAR Ancestor Number is: A097787 Francis Robinson was a soldier in the Revolution with the rank of private in the Virginia Militia where he served several two month terms. Francis Robinson's DAR Ancestor Number is: A097441 You can get a copy of William Robinson's Last Will and Testament which does name his son Francis at my web site: http://tree.schimka.com You'll find a copy of William's Will, Francis' Will, Francis' Revolutionary War pension file, a copy and link to the Stringtown history which is almost verbatim to the stories my grandfather told me twenty years ago (he was born in Hinton, Harrison Co, KY near where Harrison, Scott and Grant Counties touch), and other documents. I see you are also researching the Thompson family. If you happen to be a descendant of Napoleon Bonaparte Thompson and his wife Sarah Elizabeth Barnes then you will also be a descendant of John Barnes (Sarah Elizabeth's grandfather) who was a Revolutionary War soldier in the Continental Army and was at many famous Revolutionary War battles including Trenton with Washington's troops and he was at Valley Forge for the winter of 1777-1778. John Barnes was in the Infantry and re-enlisted with the 3rd Continental Light Dragoons. The DAR has a database search for Soldiers and Patriots of the Revolution, descendants of those soldiers and members of the DAR. Check out DAR National Member Number: 732521 (This DAR member is associated with William Robinson, Francis Robinson and John Barnes). John Barnes' DAR Ancestor Number is: A006344 The DAR "Record Copy" application for Ancestor A097787 (William Robinson) for Member Number M732521 states in the supporting documentation section that William's Will names his children (and it does - as I said, you can see a copy of William's Will at my web site). The DAR Database is at: http://services.dar.org/public/dar_research/Search/ Good Luck. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
