Helen has tried for a long time and we were very lucky on finding this one. Plus, the paper trail is very good. I still think you all have your Benj's mixed up - I can see why that would happen because the records are somewhat confusing. But you are right - another set is needed to put this to rest. Different haplogroups would rule out any relationship. It was a long shot for me to link up with the Chris Robinson family, but ydna needs to be established for the major VA Robinson families, so, right or wrong, this added to the mix. I do find it strange that such a large Robinson family doesn't already have others listed in FTDNA. If I'm not mistaken, your ydna doesn't match anyone one else???? I think we could expect at least one mismatch or perhaps even two mismatches at 67 markers, but to find no one at three mismatches seems strange to me. If you find someone else, please let me know. Take Care, Joel Robinson Charlotte, NC Joel, if it doesn't match you and it doesn't match my cousin John, i think perhaps we have to consider the possibility of a nonpaternal event. One really does need triangulation in a matter of this sort, so until we have another person submitting a Y DNA sample with some kind of a trail that someone at least considers to be valid, we should think of this as still being up in the air, and even then we need another sample from that line. (R1b1a2 is, of course, very common for that area and should be expected. The I1 seen in my family is much less so. It shows up in my Robinson line and in my Brecht/Bright line from Germany. Neither of those would be expected.) b (betsy shafer, nee betsy collins) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Joel, the Ydna result from Betsy S.'s male Robinson relative has an exact match for 37 markers with that of a descendant of Joseph Robinson of Fayette County, Kentucky (my line).
