I am seeking information about and trying to find individuals related to William Robinson, my great-grandfather. William was born in Tyrone County, Northern Ireland, in about 1872. His birth date has been difficult to pin down as it appears to change on each document and census he is found in. The year 1872 is from cemetery records at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill, Pa., though on census records, based on the ages he gave, comes out to as early as 1867. His death certificate gives the names of his parents as Samuel and Lucy Robinson. William immigrated to Philadelphia in either 1887 or 1888. He married Agnes McIlroy (1862-1908; alternately spelled McElroy), daughter of William McIlroy and Eliza Jane Duncan in 1891 and had the following children: Bessie (1892-1938), John (1893-1988), Alfred (1894-1964), Agnes (1897-1898), Sarah (1900-1900), Mary (1902-1990), and William (1906-1975). His wife Agnes came down with tuberculosis and went to High River, Alberta to live with her sister Jane Brown in early 1908 to recover from her illness. She died on Feb. 6, 1908. Alfred, Mary, and William later went to live on the Brown farm during the 1910s and 1920s before returning to the Philadelphia area. William Robinson married a second time to Adelaide Graham in 1911. He died on January 4, 1930 in the Pennsylvania State Hospital in the Byberry area of Philadelphia. He had spent the last years of his life there suffering from the effects of alcoholism and mental illness. Adelaide died in 1949 and had worked for Strawbri! dge & Clothiers in Philadelphia. I am trying to find more information about William's parents and siblings. I have been unable to find Samuel and Lucy in Irish records at FamilySearch and Ancestry.com and do not know what village William was from. William did not have a middle name. Furthermore, my family is aware that William also had two brothers living in Philadelphia at the time of his death in 1930, but do not know either of their names. If there is anyone out there familiar with this family and has information about William's brothers and parents, please get in touch. I would be happy to exchange information. Best regards, Ken Robinson
