Max lost his cherished wife Ruth four years ago in LA (Los Angeles) where they lived for over 30 years after leaving the Bay Area. Max was a boxer, a sailor in WWII who was the boxing champion of the Pacific Fleet. Max was an essayist, poet and political activist who once served as bodyguard to Paul Robeson. Max's poetry, song, conversation and flirtations will be missed by his family and friends including his children Ina Jaye, Bob Ross, Fred Ross and Jack Zins: grandchildren Reva and David Larson and Traci Young: Ami Zins and husband Lew Levinson who cared for Max during the last years of his life: great-grandchildren Naia, Noah and Hannah; caretakers Tess Benshae, Gigi Marhoon, Michael Aquino, Mr. Young, and his ASEB friends.
