I am posting this for your research. This is one of the most informative and well written obituaries I have ever seen, especially for the time: The Coshocton Age Coshocton, Ohio Tuesday, March 24, 1903 William Henry Robinson, the oldest citizen of Coshocton and one of the oldest residents of this section of the state, passed away peacefully at his home on North Eighthstreet at 3:50 o'clock, Friday afternoon. His faithful and loving wife, who has been a most constant and devoted helpmate during the closing years of his long useful career, and his children were at his side when his soul took its flight to "that undiscovered country from which no traveler ever returns." Mr. Robinson has reached the remarkeably advanced age of 91 years, 66 of which were spent in this city. For years his sturdy figure was a familiar one on our streets. His rugged constitution withstood the storms of many years until a few months ago when his vitality began to weaken. Shortly after Christmas he sustained a severe fall at his home and never recovered from the effects. He was given up by his family some time ago, but his indomitable will clung to life's slender thread for beyond their expectations. Mr. Robinson was born on a farm near Savannah, Ga., January 11, 1812. He was the son of William and Mary (Hodge) Robinson, of Scotch-Irish ancestry. He lived on a farm until he was ten years old when he moved with his parents to the city of Savannah and attended school there until he was seventeen years of age. From there he went to New York City, attended a school a short time and went to Orange, NJ, where he apprenticed to the carpenter trade and served four years in Orange, NJ and started west, determined to go as far as his money would take him. He came to Roscoe, via the Ohio canal, August 10, 1837, having traveled the entire distance by water, consuming a period of three weeks. Coming immediately to Coshocton he commenced housekeeping in the house now owned and occupied by S.H. Nicholas, on Cambridge road, where he resided two years. He then removed to his late residence on North Eighth street, which he has occupied continuously for 63 years. He followed his trade here until 1871. He then established an insurance agency, which he successfully conducted until 1893, when he retired from active business, but continued looking after his individual interests until within a year of his death. Since boyhood he has been a member of the Presbyterian church and a ruling elder in the local church since 1863. He was its treasurer for twelve years. Mr. Robinson was a man of quiet turn and temperament and found enjoyment in leading a life of scrupulous honesty and fairness with all men. Mr. Robinson was initiated into the Masonic fraternity, November 1, 1847, passed November 19, 1847 and raised December 24, 1847. He was elected worshipful master January 14, 1853 and continued as such by re-election for 17 years. He married January 6, 1834, to Sarah Ann Matthews of Orange, NJ, and to them six children were born, of whom his son William H. Robinson, Jr., of this city, and daughters Mrs. Mary E. Skinner, of Chester, WV and Mrs. Harriett N. Stonehocker, of LaSalle, Colo., are living. His wife died February 10, 1864 and he was again married September 24, 1865 to Susan C. Denman of this city, who survives him. From this union there were born two children, Clara D. (deceased) and Howard, of this city. The funeral services will be under the direction of the Masonic order and will be held at the house Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Dr. Wallace Hamilton will officiate. Interment will be made at Oak Ridge cemetery.
