    3. The Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum is searching for information on a John Robinson, boy of 15, who picked up a tea chest on the Boston Harbor coastline the day after the Boston Tea Party ( December 1773). This tea chest will be the premier exhibit of the new Museum being built this year in Boston. Family tradition, which has held up remarkably well so far, states that John later became a Revolutionary War soldier. After the war, he married a woman named Nancy _____. After John died, she remarried to a man named _____ Holden (we believe this man to be Isaac Holden of St. Albans VT, a Revolutionary War pensioner). Nancy died at or near Fowler, St. Lawrence County NY in 1854. Our working theory is that John of the tea chest was the son of John and Elizabeth (Studley) Robinson of Duxbury, Plymouth County MA and Cambridge, Lamoille County VT. If this theory holds, then the entire family would be descendants of Gain Robinson. John and Nancy had three confirmed children, all of whom settled in the St. Lawrence County NY area: 1. Betsey Robinson [bca. 1796 in NY or VT] m. Jonathan Burrell Fisk of Cambridge VT and Madrid NY. They later settled in the Heuvelton district of Ogdensburg NY and are both buried there. Their many early descendants lived in Ogdensburg NY, Watertown NY, Rochester NY, Oneida NY and Pontiac MI. 2. John R. Robinson [bca. 1800 in NY or VT] m. Patience Marsh of Warren, Herkimer County NY and Granville, Washington County NY. They lived many years in Fowler NY. As age and sickness enveloped them, they split - John R. moved to Hickory Corners MI - Patience moved to Sturgeon Bay, Door County WI. Their early descendants lived in Hastings MI, Marion MI and Sturgeon Bay WI. 3. Ezra Tullar Robinson [b. 10 October 1810 'near St. Albans VT'] m. Mary Ann Marsh, sister of Patience. They resided in Fowler NY, Bucyrus OH and Hickory Corners MI. They are both buried at Hickory Corners MI. Their early descendants settled in Barry County MI and Calhoun County MI. We have found a great deal of information on the three children and their spouses. We still know very little about John Robinson of the tea chest and his wife Nancy.
