    3. Help -- again! I have FINALLY broken through our biggest brickwall -- only to run into a couple more! Had been searching for parents for my Alexander Robinson b. 1849. Met a fellow searcher at a family gathering and she has parents Gorrell Robinson and Frances Fuqua b. around turn of the century for them. This info came from Alexander's son, so it should be good - we figure he knew who his grandparents were. There is a lot of info to be found on Frances and her ancestry. However, Gorrell has been another story! I was given the name of a father for Gorrell - source should be reliable and grandparents as well. Gorrell Robinson - b. around 1800 in GA moved to TN where Alexander was born - likely on to IL. Seems Gorrell was a bit of a scoundrel and for some as yet undiscovered reason ran off on poor Frances - most likely reason his love for the women -- Don't you just love finding a scoundrel of some sort!! Keeps the searching interesting!! father - John Robinson - no dates or spouse known --- yet! John's parents - William Robinson & Margaret Gorrell -- grandson named Gorrell for Margaret's father - his first name not known yet either. I have found a Wm. & Margaret born in early 1700's in the MD, VA area and several generations of ancestors for each. Problem is - the only child listed is female - definitely NOT John! Could this be an older sibling for John? Is this the right family or just another big coincidence? Help from anyone researching this family would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks for the help and happy hunting!! Sandy

    3. Do you have any other info for Gorrell? I am looking for a Robinson male in GA who may have been a bit of a scoundrel who married Sarah (?)and had kids Mary, Emma and Walter from 1850-1857. Sarah may have taken up with one of this Robinson man's brothers. In 1859 she marries Dr Morris, one of his business partners. They move to AL and then LA and she dies in 1869. Unknown almost anything about the Robinson husband/father except for lots of speculation and family stories. I was looking for a Walter Robinson in there somewhere since one of the kids is named Walter (b1857 in GA) but have had no luck. This Robinson generation has been my brick wall for YEARS. I am researching "Gorrell" and "Jerrell" and initial "G" other forms of that name and misspellings of that name for ya. Will let you know what I find. Thanks! 3. There are children listed for Gorrell & Frances Robinson in the 1850 Macon County, TN census. I will look those up. by 1860 Frances is listed as a widow living with one of the kids in another area of TN. County Clerk in Gallatin, IL says her mom called that a "grass widow". A lady with some ol' rascal out there in the grass. In those days it seems it must have been easier to declare yourself a widow to the neighbors than tell the tale of your rascally man! I'll look those name up - sometimes the pattern of names helps. 2. Sandy, Bobby West is also researching this group. So, Gorrell was born around 1800 and had a father named John??? I have a John born 1772 in VA married to a Sarah that lived close to Gorrell and Frances. He lived in the part of Smith Co that became Macon Co. He was dead by 1851 but he had children living in Macon Co. William M. Robinson and King (probably David) Robinson. I believe I somehow tie into Ga because I have found another King David Robinson in GA the son of Alexander T. Robinson and Ruthy Boone. I had looked at Gorrel before and read a little about him in a Fuqua family history book on a trip to the Macon Co library. I remember it saying that they came from Va. Keep me posted, Thanks, Karen ----- Original Message ----- From: Sandy Stolze To: robinson@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, September 25, 2006 7:22 PM Subject: [ROBINSON] William Robinson/Margaret Gorrell Help -- again! 3. Karen, Here's what I "know". As many of us do, every so often I sent out info about my Alexander Robinson b. abt 1849. which is where I was stuck on this line. No luck this time either - but I met a distant cousin at a funeral - sad but true, that's where much info is found. She was a descendant of Alex's like my husband. She had known her Uncle Aaron who talked about his grandfather - Gorrell Robinson. Aaron was a preacher, but described his grandpa as the biggest horse's butt ever and QUITE the womanizer. He mentioned Frances as his grandmother. I put this info out on the list to see what info someone else might have and got this email in return: Hello, Sandy My name is Ray Thorpe and my G-G-Ggrandfather was Gorrell Roninson(named for his grandmother's family in Maryland. William Robinson+Margaret Gorrell= John Robinson= Gorrell Robinson. Gorrell was born in Augusta Co. VA in 1797and moved to Bedford Co. when a boy. He married Francis Fuqua and they moved to TN with her bro. Caleb. He had on son named Alex. There is a Alex in 1850 in the House Hold of John Robinson in Macon Co.TN. It was passed down in the family that Gorrell is buired at Mount Pleasant Cem. in Macon Co. TN. This Cemetery is now called Fuqua-Gross Cem. Francis Marion Robinson (my G-Ggrandmother) was 2 yrs in the 1850 censes. Mary Pryor sees you e-mail as fact that GORRELL went IL and is putting it in a book. Do you have anymore info on Garl, Garrett, or Garrel Robinson. Thanks Ray That's all I have to go on at this time. The only info I have further is on Alexander Robinson and his children -- and generations of descendants after that. >From: <Lold615@msn.com> >Reply-To: robinson@rootsweb.com >To: <robinson@rootsweb.com> >Subject: Re: [ROBINSON] William Robinson/Margaret Gorrell >Date: Tue, 26 Sep 2006 20:58:31 -0500 > >Sandy, >Bobby West is also researching this group.
