I like www.familysearch.com They don't have a huge selection of census records, but do have lots of complete online death, draft cards & other records via the new beta records search. Direct at: http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start I also use Heritage Quest when I can. I prefer Ancetry.com but don't have my membership updated right now either. Rootsweb is your friend, I always go there first, remembering many of the items are user-submitted and will need "proving." Good luck!
