He was born in Calvert County, Maryland around 1800. He brought his children, John William (1830-1912) and Barbara Jane (1831-1902) to Ohio in about 1846-47, where they lived with the Kinsey Skinner family in Belmont County, Ohio. After his arrival in Ohio, I have been unable to trace Joseph. I think his wife, Elizabeth Fowler, must have died in Maryland.
