Happy New Year to everyone, since a new year, new decade I thought would try once more on my Robinson. My grandfather is James Garfield Robinson son of John and Alice Robinson. James G Robinson was born between December 31, 1890 /1892. My mother was 3 when he died and her mother died when she was 14. What my mother recalls is that her father was raised by his two older sisters, she didn't know their names. I have three documents for James G. Robinson; the Death certificate, 1920 census, and the marriage certificate. I will list the information off the certificates. According to the death certificate of James G Robinson , his birthday was December 31, 1890 in Penne (the was something type and the Penne was over that type it's hard to read) Mom said he was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania (I haven't found anything so far). It list his parents as John Robinson And Alice-unknown. He died May 23, 1928 In San Bernardino California. His body was moved to Valparaiso Indiana where he was buried at St. Paul's cemetery that according to the Valparaiso newspaper. In 2007 I went back to St. Paul's cemetery and they don't know where he at. 1920 census: Birth est. 1892, birth place as Pennsylvania, single, white, male, he was a lodger at Edward R. Marsland home. He could read and write He and his parents all were born in Pennsylvania. James was machines. The 1920 census also show Grace Fanning living in San Bernardino California by the address they had they lived within a mile or so each other. However, I have a postcard from James to Grace dated July 19,1919 she at the time was in New Mexico and he worked on the railroad. We are assuming that Grace took a trip from Chicago to New Mexico where she met James on the train. I don't know how long or why she was in New Mexico. Marriage certificate. Holy Cross on 65th, Chicago IL it states that James G Robinson of Sam Bernardino California age 29 and Grace Fanning of Chicago cook county IL age 28 were married on the Nov 15, 1920. There was a note that the marriage was dispensation for mixed religion so we know that he not Catholic. After they were married they went back to San Bernardino CA. In 1921 they had a son named James Garfield Robinson Jr. Sometime between 1921 and 1923 they moved to Chicago and had their second son John Paul Robinson in June 1923. Between June 1923 and Oct 10, 1925 they moved back to San Bernardino and had my mother Donna Mae Robinson. By Oct 1927 they had moved back to Chicago IL. I believe it was to be close to Grace's family her mother died in Oct. 1927. In April 1928 they were back in San Bernardino CA and in May he died. Now Grace had James body moved to Valparaiso IN (that where Grace was born and where her parents are buried). They had a service back there in St. Paul's church and he was buried in St. Paul Cemetery. I have newspaper clipping stating that and I have a copy of the record of Interments it show him as Robertson, James place of birth is CA and his age as 36 (which would put his birth at 1892). There were lots of errors on the Record of Interments except for the dates they matched. What I have done so far is gone back to census and looked for James Robinson in the 1900 census I found a James Robinson age 8 living at the home of William and Helen Tompson as a boarder. I haven't been able to confirm this is my Robinson and he doesn't show up with this family in 1910, in 1910 I find another James Robinson (listed as Janks Robinson) age 19 as a boarder in Pittsburg ward 4, Allegheny, Pennsylvania again I can't confirm this as my James and by 1920 he in San Bernardino CA which is listed above. Thank you for your time. Sharon Vaughn 2939 Rockcreek Ct Richland WA 99354 509-375-4732
