Our DNA test with freshly arrived results makes me believe so. I know of two James generations preceded by a John generation in a Robinson line, yet I am missing a link to connect to them by records in spite of the positive DNA connection. My third great grandfather, Stephen Robinson, was born in 1768 and died in Licking County, Ohio in 1840. I have always been told that his father died when Stephen was a boy and that Stephen was "probably" but not positively born in Hardy County, Virginia. That land later became part of West Virginia. The word "probably" makes me wonder whether he was born in Virginia, another state, or in Great Britain somewhere. Stephen married Sally (Sallie) Oldaker or Oldacre or Oldecker of Virginia. If you have any information that could help us find the parentage of Stephen Robinson b. 1768, I would be especially interested. I have had a response from another site stating that there was a Jam! es who was a mail carrier. I cannot remember the years. His son also was a mail carrier, and one of them was a yoeman. Because of your information, I will also check the Charleston, SC arrivals and Western Yorkshire as a possiblility for Stephen's birth. Do you know who your James Robinson married? If we put enough information together, something might connect. Then eventually, we might be searching for the same people. I have a list of Robinsons from indexes of books in Virginia from a genealogical society to check. Because of your name, the arrival date, and the place, I will see if I can find more from that to lead me to Stephen and then back from there. Thank you so much. Sometimes a question can lead to the finding of important facts to connect for more information. I hope you find what you are looking for. If your James is our connection, then our Stephen might have come to America when he was about two years old. Do you know if James was married when he cam! e to America and is so,to whom? Thank you very much for sharing your earliest knowledge. It might be the very key we need! If I learn anything helpful for you, I will let you know. Your James would be the right age to have been Stephen's father I believe, and it would be within the 6 generations from mine as proved by DNA!
