Billie Redding Lewis, in her book "Ancestors along the James," makes a pretty convincing case based on land records that the ancestor of the Thomas Robinson who married Elizabeth** ______ is another Thomas who was probably brought to Virginia by either James Place or Thomas Stegg ca. 1640. I have never seen any documentation, nor any mentions of possible documentation, to support the linkage of Thomas Robinson/Robertson with the Rev. William Robertson's family. I am willing to be persuaded that I am wrong on that point, but only if the persuader backs his or her argument with actual evidence -- not family group sheets that have taken on a life of their own in the netiverse. (I don't mean to disrespect the efforts of others, but after having to purge my ancestry of nearly 700 years' worth of ancestors when a old and widely published pedigree was proven to be a hoax, I have adopted a rather stringent b.s. filter in these matters.) Later, Dave ** Please do not use married names for women whose birth families are unknown. That only creates more confusion for others searching electronic databases whose quality is unknown and for which proper documentation is not provided. If the name is not known, leave it blank.
