We believe him to be the father or our Daniel Robinson b. 1775 in NY who married first Hannah Hawkins and then Henrietta Shedd in Indiana and then moved to Illinois. 3. Hi, This message did not come with a link to the Robinson Roots website so I could not post it in the usual way. I am not sure either which email address to use to reply. As the author of this book I can tell you that there is a chapter on William Benjamin Robinson (1797-1873) and I assume that this is the one you mean. Amazon in North America is doing me no favours by selling the book at a rather inflated price. You might do better to get it direct from the UK and pay the postage. It is available for 10.99 GBP from York Publishing Distribution at http://www.ypdbooks.com/biography/504-the-saga-of-the-robinsons-YPD00471.htm l. I will try to get this message on to the general Robinson Digest board. 1. [ROBINSON] William Robinson (1872-1930): Tyrone County, Northern Ireland-->Philadelphia
    2. Ken Robinson
    3. I am seeking information about and trying to find individuals related to William Robinson, my great-grandfather. William was born in Tyrone County, Northern Ireland, in about 1872. His birth date has been difficult to pin down as it appears to change on each document and census he is found in. The year 1872 is from cemetery records at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill, Pa., though on census records, based on the ages he gave, comes out to as early as 1867. His death certificate gives the names of his parents as Samuel and Lucy Robinson. William immigrated to Philadelphia in either 1887 or 1888. He married Agnes McIlroy (1862-1908; alternately spelled McElroy), daughter of William McIlroy and Eliza Jane Duncan in 1891 and had the following children: Bessie (1892-1938), John (1893-1988), Alfred (1894-1964), Agnes (1897-1898), Sarah (1900-1900), Mary (1902-1990), and William (1906-1975). His wife Agnes came down with tuberculosis and went to High River, Alberta to live with her sister Jane Brown in early 1908 to recover from her illness. She died on Feb. 6, 1908. Alfred, Mary, and William later went to live on the Brown farm during the 1910s and 1920s before returning to the Philadelphia area. William Robinson married a second time to Adelaide Graham in 1911. He died on January 4, 1930 in the Pennsylvania State Hospital in the Byberry area of Philadelphia. He had spent the last years of his life there suffering from the effects of alcoholism and mental illness. Adelaide died in 1949 and had worked for Strawbri! dge & Clothiers in Philadelphia. I am trying to find more information about William's parents and siblings. I have been unable to find Samuel and Lucy in Irish records at FamilySearch and Ancestry.com and do not know what village William was from. William did not have a middle name. Furthermore, my family is aware that William also had two brothers living in Philadelphia at the time of his death in 1930, but do not know either of their names. If there is anyone out there familiar with this family and has information about William's brothers and parents, please get in touch. I would be happy to exchange information. Best regards, Ken Robinson

To email me, go to my website at: www.joelrobinson.com look on the left for "email me" and I will get it. It's private and only comes to me. I will do everything - the only thing he must do is swab his mouth twice and send it back in. If he has to pay for sending it back in then let me know and I will give him that money back. On your book - I tried to order a second copy from Amazon and they were all out so I went to the one you listed in the UK. Surprisingly, the UK book seller is a little cheaper than Amazon when you consider price w/shipping. Tell you uncles "thank you" for me. I talked to my uncle in Canada just now and he is up for the DNA test as long as you organise it and he does not have to pay for it! He did not seem to mind at all. I will give you his details by direct email to you, not on this website so that they are not in the public domain, and I ask you to respect that completely. Helen Battleson has my email address so you can get it from her. Of course you can make the results available to interested parties as long as my uncle's address is not made public. 1. [ROBINSON] "Proof"
    2. Betsy S
    3. a little matter of terminology: i believe 'proof' is considered an outdated term in genealogy - it was use in the past - i believe no less a person than Elizabeth Shown Mills has noted that this term is not applicable (i could be wrong - she can speak for herself if i am) we build up evidence we consider where the weight of the evidence lies over time the evidence may become more weighty in a different place on the spectrum of what is considered to be true by different people there is no court, no judge, no one paying alimony in a paternity case (usually . . . in my case the relatives of interest are generations and centuries distant . . . ) . . . we try to convince one another i wish you all successful searching b

    3. DNA testing at FTDNA: it's an easy thing, no blood involved (just a cheek swab, as i recall [for a 23andme test i did i had to spit into a tube and mail in that tube but they supply the envelope all ready to go]) tell them it's really not difficult or unpleasant (especially if someone else pays . . . ) - and a lot of distant relatives will love them for it! b > Hi Joel, > > I think that if I can't persuade them, no one will but I'll see what I can > do.
