Still looking for Robert Robinson, born 1849/50 in England. Lived in St.Louis 1870s & 1880s. Occupation Shoemaker. May have moved elsewhere after this date. Robert worked with a relative, Thomas Robinson in 1869., also a shoemaker. Thomas was born in 1810 England, but is apparently not Robert's father. Hoping to find my missing Robert.
I've just finished putting in the rest of the Virginia Obituary Archive at http://www.genlookups.com/va/webbbs_config.pl - There are obits with the ROBINSON surname. Hope this helps. Bill

There are eight Robinson's in Haplogroup E1b1b1b2 that are in western Virginia in the late 1700s. We strongly belief that our ancestral trail will go through Delaware to Ireland and back to Scotland. Paper trail is not confirmed to match up the yDNA results and we also would like to see many more Robinson ancestors have their yDNA done. My own line has a brick wall with James Robinson (1761, [?]-1833, Garrard County, KY). I believe that he was born in Virginia. He went back to DE and married Catherine Augustus, 01 Mar 1785, Old Swede's Church, Wilmington, DE. Does this ring any bells with anyone? G. E. "Robbie" Robinson Meridian, ID 83646

It has the earmarks of being written down from memory, as the errors it contains don't seem like common transcription errors. It has Nancy Robinson marrying Boswell Mitchell and Susan (Susannah) marrying Richard Mitchell but in fact it was Susannah who married Boswell Mitchell and Nancy who married Richard Mitchell. But the worse error is that it doesn't mention John Robinson as a son of Benjamin and Mildred Robinson. There is no doubt that Benjamin Robinson (1752-1835) had a son named John. Deed records make it clear--there is even a deed of 24 October 1812 (Deed book G, pages 198-199) in which Benjamin is transferring land to John Robinson and calls him "son." And there is no doubt that this son, John Robinson, married Fanny G. Berry. The Bourbon Co., [correction note below - it was Clark County, where Berry family lived - bcs] Ky. The marriage bonds for John Robinson and Sally Berry and for John Robinson and Fanny Berry are signed by Thomas Berry, Jr., as bondsman. Thomas Berry, Jr.'s estate records mention Benjamin Robinson and Joseph Robinson as being the fathers of two John Robinsons who have notes due Thomas Berry, Jr.. The estate settlement even says "John Robinson (husband of Fanny)" And the Berry Bible record I mentioned before has Fanny G. Berry's birth date as 4 Sept. 1884. This is the same birth date as that on the gravestone of Fanny Robinson in Jessamine County, Ky. Also the final heirs sale of the remaining land of Benjamin Robinson in Fayette Co. lists "John Robinson and Fanny, his wife" and Fanny acknowledged the sale as Fanny G., wife of John Robinson. Regards, Joan she sent correction, same day "The marriage bond (for John and Fanny G. Berry) was not issued in Bourbon County, but was from Clark County, which is where the Berry family lived." Records over the next year mention names of several Robinsons who were received for baptism, including two John Robinsons. Benjamin and Joseph Robinson both had sons named John Robinson who were about the same age. Other Robinsons mentioned were Benjamin Robertson (Robinson), Jr.; Lewis Robertson (Robinson); Charles Robertson (Robinson); and Polly Robertson (Robinson). Benjamin Robinson, Jr. and Charles Robinson were sons of Mildred and Benjamin, and the Polly Robinson named here is probably their daughter. Two other names of new members of 1801 are of interest: Sally Berry, who married John Robinson, son of Joseph, and Fanny Berry (Sally Berry’s sister), who married John Robinson, son of Benjamin. Sally and Fanny G. Berry were daughters of Thomas Berry, Jr., and Mildred Allen of Clark County. see http://www.fayetteky.oilcreekgenealogy.net/content/generation2.html acc 7/14/11 this would tell one something about Fannie (her sister) as well as about Sarah: Sarah Berry was born either in Virginia, or in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and died 3 April 1850,24 Fayette County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Thomas Berry, Jr. (1757–1839), and Mildred Allen (1763–1828).25 A marriage bond for John Robinson [not my ancestor - bcs] to marry Sally Berry was made 19 April 1802,26 with Thomas Berry, bondsman, present and consenting as father of the bride. John and Sarah Berry apparently were married in Clark County, Kentucky, and lived there until about 1827. Sarah Berry’s father, Thomas Berry, Jr., owned 100 acres on Hancock Creek in Clark County.27 Deed records of 1810 for Thomas Berry (Sr) (50 acres), Thomas Berry, Jr. (100 acres) and John Robinson (53-3/4 acres) indicate all lived in the Hancock Creek area. Good Morning, Would anyone have the name of the parents of John Robinson who was married to Elizabeth Parrish [daughter of Josiah Parrish and Elizabeth Plant]? His father might have been Joshua Robinson [wife unknown].... but I don't have anything earlier than that and would really like to push this line back. I have John possibly born in Goochland, Virginia in 1740 [other dates found 1717, 1746] and died in Mason County, Ky... no date. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Renee
Sorry if I missed the original post, but who is this Joseph Robinson who died in 1823? Was he of Fayette County, and does anyone know his place of birth? Could he been connected to the Robinsons of Abbeville District, SC and Augusta County, VA? -----Original Message----- From: Hugh Clifford Sent: Monday, March 26, 2012 8:50 PM To: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com ; robinson@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ROBINSON] Chris Robinson Joseph Robinson (b ?, d 1823 "being old and feeble") and Benjamin Robinson (b 1752, d 1835) of Fayette County, Kentucky, apparently were closely related, but definitely not father and son.

The funeral will also be held at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home at 2p on Thursday, March 30. Burial will follow at the Gentry Cemetery, Gentry, AR. Please keep Denver's family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

That would make discovering her maiden name even more difficult. I tried checking for a Lugenia/Eugenia who married a Robinson (all variations) in VA and KY prior to 1855, but had no luck. Many Virginia records have been lost, and only a few are online, so who knows what the future may bring? My maiden name is Robinson (DNA proves Robertson)but I don't know of any connection to yours. Best of luck. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am the great granddaughter of Eugenia Jane Robinson and Albert W Wise. They had 2 daughters that I know of... Mary Martha and Sarah Elizabeth - my great grandmother. I have original Bible records that Eugenia and I can trace Albert W back but there seem to be no clues on Eugenia. Thanks for the response.
