Surnames: Robinson, Robertson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3cDBAIB/7901.1.1 Message Board Post: Try Bob Collins http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:3119647&id=I956 According to the 1850 census of Clay County, there was a Daniel Robertson, born 1849 living in the household of Elias and Christina Robertson. Elias and Christina were both too old to be the parents of Daniel, but he is possibly related in some way to them. The more participation we have in the Rob*son DNA project, there is a better chance for everyone to connect the many branches. At this time RootsWeb's WorldConnect project shows over 300 Rob*son (Robinson, Roberson, Robertson, Robison) individuals born in Clay County KY. If only half of those joined the DNA project, the loss of early records in Clay County might not be as daunting a barrier as it currently is to researchers.

Not exactely sure where they married. I'm guessing from his age on the census that he was born around 1890. They had the following children: Marie 1911 William 1913 Wayne 1914 Hellen 1915 Arline 1916 Raymond 1918 Does anyone know this family? Been searching for years.

    1. DNA Project and Pike/Floyd, KY & Russell, VA Robinsons
    2. Donald Drake
    3. Good morning, My name is Donald Drake and I administrate the Robinson DNA surname project. Our results can be found at the URL referenced in the signature line below. We currently have about 47 results posted. I haven't been able to push the project as much as I would like because my ISP's spam blocker keeps bouncing messages from this list and then I get unsubed (usually take about three days). I get about 300 messages a month from the Drake list and very few are bounced, so I am not sure why I have the problem with this list. Anyway . . . With current DNA technology, by comparing the DNA signatures of two living donors (both male and with the same surname) we can determine the probability that the donors share a recent common ancestor, say within the past 600 years. On our Drake project, this has helped us determine the family lines for several individuals who had previously hit a brick wall in their research. In our line we have no idea who the parents of Benjamin Drake b. 1729 and died and 1827 Carter Co., TN. were. Now, because of DNA, we still don't know his parents but we have a 99.93% probability of sharing a common ancester within the past 400 years with donors who have a documented connection to Cpt. Francis Drake (b.1618) of NJ. We don't know Benjamin's parents but we now know what family to search. We also have another donor who thought he had clear dcumentation back to Cpt. Francis Drake, but the DNA results were so unlike the CFD donors that he had less than a 1% chance of sharing a common ancestor within the past 1200 years! He now knows that there is a mistake in his research and we have been able to determine which connection is wrong. And he has solid matches with several donors whose EKAs were in Isle of Wight, VA. I ask each donor to provide me with the name of his Earliest Known Ancestor (EKA) and I identify each result by Kit# and EKA. I would also like EKA charts, (the same format you would use for the DAR) so we can let people see how the donor is descended from the EKA (we don't publish the most recent generations without permission). For myself, I am looking for male descendants of Robinsons from Pike Co. and Floyd Co., KY and from Russell County, VA. Please contact me if you would like to join our project. 1. Unidentified subject!
    2. EKLOU Monica
    3. Hi Sandy!!! Thank you for the attachment. The data about the "john & grace robinson" family coincide with the information given in the autobiography I've been talking about. John W. Robinson said he was the eldest son of the family. And this seems to be true in the family we found in this census record. My aim is to try and find descendants of his brothers and/or sisters. John W. Robinson is said to have married Danella Foote who worked in Tuskegee Institute. Elizabeth Robinson, a daughter of him succeeded in getting in touch with my grand'mother (her sister) in Togo but we lost unfortunately the address. (But I have a photograph of her). She told her that she has a brother called William "Thomson" (don't know the spelling)... The remaining questions : * Are Elizabeth Robinson and William "Thomson" the children of Danella Foote? * Why William isn't called Robinson? Did his mother get married again after John W. Robinson? I will send you as soon as possible photographs of Elizabeth and John W. Robinson. Best regards Monica --------------------------------- Appel audio GRATUIT partout dans le monde avec le nouveau Yahoo! Messenger Téléchargez le ici !

    2. EKLOU Monica
    3. Dear Sandy, Thank you for your prompt answer and for the concern you show up about the subject. I will be greatly interested in receiving the image of the siblings you talked about. I got the details about the trip in Togo, thanks to internet and to some history archives (letters he wrote to his boss Booker T. Washington...) As you said in your mail, John and Grace were his parents. One of my cousins gave me the same informations without giving me the sources, so it made me careful about it. Now, I think it is the right information. I'm sure he's born in Bennettsville (according to an autobiography by himself included in a book) and went to school after in Tuskegee. My grand'ma told us he was from Alabama but I think it's because he spent most of his adulthood there. I wrote to Tuskegee institute but the archives service is moving by now so i have to write back in March. Please, send me the photograph of the family you found. thank you very much!!!!
