You are correct in thinking that his father, John R. Robinson, was married twice. He first married Elizabeth McKinney in Tennessee I do not know the date but think that it was in Kingston Tennessee. They had five children: Thomas Matthew, Mancel, James Monroe, Millie and Frances. Elizabeth died giving birth to Frances in 1852 and John R. then married Mary Ann Sanford in Cedartown, Carroll County, Georgia on 8-23-1853. John and Mary Ann also had five children: George Allen, John Daniel, Nathan Harvey, Mary Virginia Belle Zora Catherine, and Harriet Annie. I have quite a bit of info on John R's children with Mary Sanford and on James Monroe's descendants. I would like info on Mancel, Thomas Matthew, Millie and Frances, if you have any. 3. Re-submitting a request for help. Can sks help with image details for Nat (Nathan/Nathaniel) Robinson born about 1828. Nathan was a stonemason. Some censuses say he was born in Warrington and some in Rightington, so not sure. He spent all of his life apparently in Toxteth Park and married Mary Ellen Payne born in Liverpool about 1832. The 1851 census shows a son James born in Liverpool in 1850 and the family living next door to Nathan's parents James and Charlotte Robinson. The 1871 census shows another 7 children were born between 1851 and 1871 with son James also a stonemason. So if anyone can help with image details for 1861 I would be eternally grateful. Any help would be very much appreciated. Regards Syl - UK

    1. Lewis & Rich Robinson of Oconee Co, GA. ~ Lynched in 1905
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Robinson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3cDBAIB/8016 Message Board Post: In Watkinsville, Oconee County, Georgia in 1905, two brothers, Lewis and Rich Robinson were arrested and charged with the murder of a white man. They were brought to the local jail and held pending trial. In the same jail were seven other prisoners charged with a variety of crimes including theft. On the night of June 29, 1905, a mob of approximately 100 men wearing robes and masks showed up at the jail. The sheriff had been kidnapped and brought along to open the cell doors. At gunpoint, the deputies were forced to turn over all the prisoners, including the Robinson brothers. The prisoners were tied up and marched to the center of town where they were beaten and tied to a fence. The leader of the mob gave a command to shoot the men. Hundreds of shots were fired at the helpless prisoners. Eight prisoners lay dead on the ground. One man, Joe Patterson, escaped with two bullet wounds in his chest. It was one of the worst lynching incidents ever recorded and like all the others! , not one person was ever charged or even arrested for these killings. Fear of the Klan, which had a strong presence in Oconee County for decades, was solidified for another generation. I am not related to this family, I'm just passing on this information that I found while doing research on Lynchings. The link for the site is listed below. 3. Back in the 1920's a genealogist went to Tisbury, MA and pulled vitals for my great aunt. Through this he linked our family to Rev John Robinson. The vitals that he pulled may have been correct, as far as they went, but they did not accurately link to our Robinson's in Oxford County, ME who did migrate from MA. Four generations of my family are thoroughly steeped in this myth--and I have the documentation to show how the record actually reads. Just a word of caution to all, before you get too gung ho linking to a famous family--make absolutely certain that the beginning links are solid. No amount of accuracy on the family at the top is material here, if the link to that family is not solid. I guess the same follows even if the proposed ancestor is not famous--but it just is not so hard to overcome the misconception in that case. Most of my relatives who are not into genealogy would just as soon not hear what I have to say on the topic, since they so prefer the myth to the truth. ok, ranting over. -------Original Message------- From: slbutcher61@yahoo.com Date: 01/30/06 01:53:59 To: ROBINSON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ROBINSON] Any information on Rev. 3. Hello! I may have nothing, but we may have some similar info. My Robinson parents were supposed to be descendants of a large Robinson family from Ireland. I dont know the fathers name for sure. I have the mothers name as Sarah (and the maiden name I have is Calhoun but I havent proven it yet) and the childrens names are listed as: Mary (possibly known as Minnie), Emma C (for Calhoun?), and Walter John, born about 1850-1857 in Georgia. The fathers name could be Walter or John if the son was named for the father-which is what we had previously believed. There is a census that has a Sarah Morgan married to a William C Robinson with a daughter named Mary born the right date-if this is them I dont know where we got the Calhoun maiden name information. The father may have been a doctor, and when he died (between 1857-1860) Sarah married his business partenr Dr A. P. Morris and moved the family to Louisiana. Sarah Robinson Morris died in 1869 and the family eventually all moved to Texas. Supposedly Dr Morris was mean to the Robinson children and Sarah sent them to Texas to live with family friends from Ireland named the Dulaneys. If there is anything useful for you in that story I hope it helped! Do you have any knowledge of your Robinson siblings? Contact me offlist if we could help each other Diane at p2willia@oakland.edu. ----- Original Message ----- From: <LisasTree@cox.net> To: <ROBINSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 29, 2006 3:17 PM Subject: [ROBINSON] Re: ROBINSON in NIR, 1700s>PA>WV > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/3cDBAIB/4471.4454 > > Message Board Post: > > Do you show a Robert Robinson anywhere in this line?
