I am looking for George Robinson or George Harrison Robinson who I believe is my great grandfather Leroy Robinson's father. I found George Robinson in 1870 census with Elizabeth as wife, a daughter Ellen, sons William and Leroy in Ritchie County Name: George Robinson Age: 35 Estimated birth year: <1845> Birthplace: Virginia Occupation: Farmer Relationship to head-of-household: Self Home in 1880: Tygart, Wood, West Virginia Marital status: Married Race: White Gender: Male Spouse's name: Lizzie Robinson Father's birthplace: VA Mother's birthplace: VA Ellen 16 William 14 Leroy 11 Emma 4 Elizabeth Robinson full name was Sarah Elizabeth Clifton. She had a sister Mary Frances Clifton Riley who died in 1878 of the black t fever and I found where she is buried in Clarksburg, WV Sarah supposedly died from the fever too. George remarried a Mrs. Eliza Barnes in Wood county on 12/20/1881. I am trying to locate when and where George died and is burried. I know they had at least one son together - Grandma told me his name was Homer - but I have not been able to find them in the census. Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks! FYI. I hope this helps. From the Handbook of Texas Online. ROBINSON, THOMAS C. (1847-1876). Thomas C. (Pidge) Robinson, Texas Ranger and journalist, son of Thomas and Harriet B. Robinson, was born near Rustburg, Campbell County, Virginia, on November 27, 1847. He received an above-average education and had the potential for a successful literary career. However, in his early twenties he became involved in a feud with a neighbor, Jesse E. Mitchell, over the affection he felt toward Mitchell's sister, Pidgie. He was forced to flee Virginia and arrived in 1874 in Austin, Texas, where he was known as T. Chanders. He worked briefly as a cowboy, then for the Austin Statesman, where he became acquainted with the editor, John Cardwell.qv On July 25, 1874, Robinson enlisted under the name Chanders in Capt. Leander H. McNelly'sqv Washington County Volunteer Militia Company A, also called the Special Force. By October 1, he had earned the rank of first lieutenant and was known by his real name. As a Texas Ranger, he served in DeWitt County whe! n McNelly's company was subduing the Sutton-Taylor feud.qv He later served on the Rio Grande frontier and participated in a battle on the Palo Alto Prairie on June 12, 1875, in which twelve of Juan N. Cortina'sqv raiders were killed. He also was one of the rangers who invaded Mexico to recover cattle stolen from Texas ranchers near Los Cuevos. As a journalist Robinson contributed letters and poems to the Austin Statesman and Gazette, two of the city's leading newspapers. Twenty-three contributions were printed under the name Pidge between April 26, 1874, and March 31, 1876. They describe Austin in the 1870s and provide a rare illustration of ranger service written from the field. Robinson's reports were written in the form of letters within days of the action and describe scouting expeditions, the pursuit of outlaws, and battles with raiders. The writings reveal literary knowledge, intelligence, and wit. In April 1876 Robinson returned to Virginia on leave to settle his feud! with Mitchell. In the resulting gunfight he was mortally wounded and died on April 4, 1876. He is buried near Rustburg in the family plot. BIBLIOGRAPHY: Chuck Parsons, "Pidge," A Texas Ranger from Virginia (Wolfe City, Texas: Henington, 1985). Chuck Parsons I am no known relation but I though this would be helpful. Diane
Question 1: Does anyone know anything more about these two brothers, John and Levi Robinson who came to Texas? I am trying to find information about their families to see if there could be any relation to a Walter Robinson, or a Mrs Sarah F Robinson. I have a land document which names :heirs of Walter Robinson in 1858, and I am trying to find more on who that was and how he may be associated with these Robinson brothers. My relative is Walter John Robinson, born 1857 in GA to (Walter?) and Mrs Sarah F Robinson, who lived in Texas after about 1870 and is buried in Mexia Cemetery in Mexia Texas. Question 2: Does anyone know I could find out who had these 42 other lots in the Robinson homestead area, or other members of the Robinson population? Were there any other Robinson families in the area who owned land in 1850s? From the Handbookof Texas Online (From Texas Historical Assoc.) http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/RR/hfr7.html ROBINSON, TEXAS (McLennan County). Robinson, on State Highway 77 six miles south of Waco in central McLennan County, came into existence after brothers John and Levi Robinson established homesteads in the area in the early 1850s. The original Robinson home was built on land that later became the J. W. Mann farm. To encourage the growth of the village in 1856, the brothers surveyed 171 acres of land and marked off forty-two four-acre lots for other homesteaders. The Robinsons sponsored the settlement's first school in 1860, when they hired a private tutor for their children. The teacher, Mr. Moore, lived with the Robinson families. From 1879 to 1906, Robinson had its own post office. Postmasters included J. R. Robinson and L. B. Foster, both of whom also operated general stores. In 1885 Robinson had a population of 600 that supported three cotton gins, two churches, three general stores, and a school. J. W. McKee and Sons, a broom factory, was also in operation. In 1888 Rev. ! John Strauss founded the Robinson Academy. The weekly newspaper was the Robinson Bulletin. By the late 1890s, the population had dropped to 300 despite the continued operation of the broom factory. Three churches were built during the latter years of the nineteenth century-the Baptist church in 1866, the Presbyterian church in 1874, and the German Evangelical Lutheran church in 1884. Social clubs founded in the early twentieth century and still functioning as late as the 1950s included the Merry Robins and the Chatter Club. Robinson was incorporated in 1955. In 1958 its site comprised twelve square miles adjacent to Waco. -Thanks so much, Diane
Looking for in formation of Virginia (Scott) Robinson. She is the daughter of Chester Ray Scott. According to Chester's obituary (1983 K.C., Missouri) Virginia was living in San Diego, California. Who did she marry? Does anyone know of this family? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thelma in Colorado

Helen The folks at the Rootsweb help desk have asked for the following information in an effort to determine why posts coming to me from this list are bouncing. Thank you in advance for your help. Don Drake This is the message I received from Rootsweb Yes, it is possible to only be bouncing on one list if your ISP is taking issue with one RootsWeb server only, as the lists are spread across several servers. We would need to see a copy of the bounce with full headers, and this is something the admin would have; we don't have access to that. If you would care to ask the admin to contact us with that information, we can look to see what the cause of the bounce is.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3cDBAIB/8115 Message Board Post: I am looking for any relatives of William Ansell Robinson and Kate Eliza Theobald. They had 13 children and and lived in London and Noak Hill Essex. William was a house decorator. William died in 1911 and in 1915 Kate re-married Edwin A Harris.
I have just completed updating our Robinson DNA results page with the latest test results. I sent a message earlier regarding the E3b Haplogroup. I was not subscribed when I sent it, so I don't know if it came across so I'll past the info here again. I have been interested in the possible relationship between the Elk Garden, New Garden and Castlewood Robinsons of Russell County, VA. Several of the descendants of these families moved to Pike County, KY. Samuel Robinson Sr. b. 1742 who married Jane had two known children. Jane and Samuel, Jr. of Elk Garden, RCV. These two children and only these two were named in Samuel's will. It has been assumed by most that these were his only two children. However, on two of the early RCV tax lists, Samuel Sr. is living with two men who are apparently in their late teens name George and David. I have long suspected that this George is the same man as George Robinson, a blacksmith from the Big A Mtn. in New Garden who married Elizabeth. My father's first cousin, Freddie Robinson, who is descended from the New Garden Robinsons (I have a solid paper trail), submitted a DNA sample before he died this past summer. Recently, a gentleman with a solid paper trail back to Samuel Sr. b. 1742 ordered a 37 marker DNA test. He and Freddie are a 12/12 match meaning that there is a 71% chance that the Most Recent Common Ancestor for these two donors lived withn the past 240 years. I am waiting for Freddie's 37 marker result to strengthen that probability. I also received an email from a gentleman who participated in the National Georgraphic Genoproject and had his 37 marker results transfered to our surname group. He is a 37/37 match with the Samuel Robinson Sr. donor. This means that there is a 99.55% probability that the MRCA for these two donors lived within the past 240 or 12 generations and a 97.28% probability that the MRCA lived within the past 160 years or 8 generations. The Earliest Known Ancestor for this third test appears to be James T. Robinson b. 1831 in KY, who married Nancy. Their descendants moved from KY to AR, MO and finally to Grady Co., OK. If anyone recognizes this James T. Robinson please let me know. The haplogroup for all three of these gentleman is E3b and these are the only three of this haplogroup in our database which strengthens the relationship probability. Again, I am waiting for Freddie's 37 marker result to confirm, but it appears that: Samuel Robinson Sr. (s.o. George, s.o. James, s.o. George Robinson b. 1632 and Ann Curtis b. 1641 both of New Castle Co. DE) who married Jane was not only the father of Samuel, Jr. and Jane but also of George, blacksmith of New Garden and David. The New Garden Robinsons and the Elk Garden Robinsons are of the same stock. The Grady Co. OK Robinsons are also related to the RCV families. I am hoping that the Grady Co., OK Robinsons descend from Littleberry Robinson of Castlewood, RCV, thus tying all of the RCV families together. Thanks Don Drake Our results can be seen at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~drakerobinson/DNAPages/RobinsonDNA.htm
