They were born in the same timeframe and lived near Pickens County, AL. Elizabeth the daughter of Elam married Mr. Betts. I once found the marriage record in early MS marriages, and the couple lived with Elam in 1860.
Could you give me years for Elam please? Do you know if he had any sons and their names? I am looking for info on any and all Robinson Doctors or medical people, especially in NC SC GA and AL 1800-1850ish. My guy was a doctor, presumably in GA about 1845-1850 if not earlier. Also connections with a Dr A. P. Morris from NC who practiced in GA and AL (and LA) pre1850-1870. (New census find: Dr Allen Morris may have learned the profession in the home of Dr McCoy in Alabama 1840s.) They all ended up in Texas by 1880s. I am looking for info on Dr Robinson and his wife Sarah (maybe known as Sally or Fannie, may have maiden name Calhoun) and their children Mary, Emma C., and Walter John Robinson, born 1857 in GA. All help appreciated. I am still at the brick wall. Sorry to bother anyone. I'm conducting research for a friend of mine and Ella is her great grandmother. Ella (born 1868 in AL) married James J. Harwell. They married in 1890 and lived in Elmore County, Alabama. Ella's parents were Ellerbe Robinson and Mary Frances Odiorne. There was a person on the message boards who said that she had Ella's bible and I have tried contacting her, to no avail. Her email bounced so I have left messages for her. But, I haven't received a reply. I'll try once more...her name is Tina Dill...if you are out there somewhere, I'd really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks. Melissa Parker

I have reasons to believe he maybe related to John Robinson Sr of Rev War fame, and also John Jr and Archibald Robinson of Georgia. They are listed on census records nearby each other in GA 1830,40. The Robinson mother is Sarah F. Robinson, possibly born in Abbeville SC or northern GA. Unknown maiden name, supposedly Calhoun. Mrs Sarah F Robinson was born 1830 in GA according to census records & family Bible info, etc. Sarah F (maiden name possibly Calhoun, middle name probably Frances) and her husband Mr Robinson (Walter?) would have been married between 1846ish and late1849 since the eldest daughter (as far as we know) was born in 1850. The Robinson children were Mary born1850, Emma Calhoun. born 1851 and Walter John Robinson born 1857 in GA -unknown exactly where in GA. The name was incorrectly spelled Robertson in 1870 Louisiana census only. I only have records for 1859 and post Morris marriage, and no records for the Robinson father officially. Oral tradition says he was Walter and was a doctor and a land & slave owner in GA and was much loved by all for his kindness & generousity. He would have died or split with Sarah after last son was born in 1857 and before Sarah married her next husband in 1859. Sarah Robinson married her second husband in 1859 in Montgomery Alabama. Dr Allen P. Morris was born in NC and lived in Ga before he & Sarah moved with the children to AL in 1858-59. They had two more children Sarah F and James Morris born in Louisiana (where the family lived 1860-1875.) Sarah Robinson Morris passed away in 1869 and the rest of the Morris/Robinsons were in Texas before 1880. I am hoping to find someone willing to do Georgia record lookups for these Robinsons to maybe find a marriage record or death record for the father or birth record for the Robinson children. Any help finding any matching Robinsons would be greatly appreciated. I have lots of clues and maybes, but nothing concrete yet. Please o please. Much thanks, Diane

It is difficult to say if we have a common thread just yet. My gggfather, John Wesley Robinson settled in Bradley county TN in 1841. He was born in 1809 or 1812. He raised a rather large family there and they all left in the 1870's. The kids were all married or moved away and John left to be with one of the children. I do not know where John came from prior to 1841. I have tried to find a link, but no luck. The area in which he lived had been Cherokee Indian Territory prior to 1836, and the entire region had been considered to be NC. Tennessee did not come into being until NC was divided along the Smoky Mtn range in 1796. The origin of John's family is unknown at this point. I have extensive data on many of the members after the 1830-40 time period, but none before. I hope (but I doubt) that this is helpful. Steve

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Robinson, Robison, Robertson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/3cDBAIB/8244 Message Board Post: My John Wesley Robinson was born in either 1812 or 1809! One census shows his age that would place his birth in 1809. His tombstone shows October 1, 1812, and his death on March 9, 1884. His wife, Nancy Copeland Robinson was born September 29, 1822 and died on July 10, 1867. Both of them are buried in the Lebanon Church Cemetery in Bradley County Tennessee just south of Cleveland and north east of Chattanooga along with one other member of the family, Mary A Robinson born October 16, 1845 and died October 29, 1906. I believe the census records to support theory that this is a daughter, though one of the sons, married a Mary that could be this same one. This is still an unknown. There are two, possibly three other graves that separate John Wesley's grave from his wife's grave that are unmarked. These could be (and most likely are) other Robinson children. It is unknown whether these were stillborn or some of the children that we are looking for. We know that Robert Alexander Robinson (my paternal ggfather) is buried in Walker County GA, that John Wesley Robinson (one of the sons, named for his father, and brother to Robert Alexander) is buried in Chattooga County GA and that yet a third son Hiram D. is buried in Box, Oklahoma Just south of Oklahoma City. The whereabouts of William and James are unknown to us as are the other daughters, Caroline, Sarah, Emaline, Eliza, Elizabeth. Of course, the daughters most probably married and changed their last names (makes them really difficult to trace.) An interesting side note is that Nancy, buried in 1867, John Wesley buried in 1884 and Mary A buried in 1906, all have identical tombstones. It is extremely likely that all three of the tombstones were placed at the same time and the odds are quite good that this happened when Mary was buried in 1906. The stones match the style and material that was popular during that time. I have a copy of a land grant where the elder John Wesley Robinson received 80 acres of land in 1841 in Bradley County TN, where I also found him in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 census. There is a Robinson in the 1840 census as well, but because of the way the 1840 census listed household members, it is impossible to tell if this is the same one, though the sized of the county and the low number of Robinsons in Bradley County would indicate that it probably is. The death certificates of some of the sons that we have found show that the father (John Wesley) was born in TN. Looking at his birth date(s), it would probably not have been in Bradley County, as it was not a part of the state of TN until 1836 when the Cherokees signed it over to the US and it officially became a part of TN. Could he possibly the son of one of the three Robinson brother buried in the Steekee cemetery in Loudon TN? Possibly, but so far, we have not been able to make the link. I have lots more info, but thi! s will give you a snapshot that might be helpful. By the way, the son, Hiram that is buried in OK also showed up at a census somewhere in TX, though I do not remember where. I believe that my cousin Fred has this info. Hiram apparently did not stay there as he was eventually buried in OK along with his wife and several of his children. The old man could have gone there with Hiram at some point, and then either returned to TN or died in OK and his body brought back to TN, though the latter is doubtful. I have extensive dates and descendant info on balance of family. There is a cemetery named Sylar Cemetery in southern Bradley Count TN that has a large concentration of Robinson's buried there. While I have not yet found a link to my own family,m I feel that there must be one as the proximity to my gggfather's burial place and homestead would likely mean a connectiont in the early to mid 1800's. Anyone out there that can help? Thanks

I know nothing about him or how he fits into my family, I also had Robinsons in OK, but again I don't know who they were only that they are related because of the funeral books have their names in them as guests and some were pall bearers for the funeral. Most of my Robinson's came from WVA/VA, Ohio, Illinois and Kansas that I know of so far. I'm sure there were some from other states I just haven't found them yet.
