I am looking for information on the following Robinsons: William M. Robinson born around 1852 in North or South Carolina. He married Mary E. Stevenson also know as Mollie. She later divorced William and married an unknown Morrison. They had 5 children: 1. Calvin F. Robinson - born 29 Apr 1891 in SC and died 24 Dec 1975 in PA. 2. William Day Robinson - born 25 Aug 1895 in SC and died Nov 9, 1983 in VA. 3. Lucyelle Robinson - born Nov. 1892 in SC. Don't know any more about her. 4. George H. Robinson - born Dec. 8, 1902 in ? Died Mar 6, 1974 - My Grandfather. 5. Mary Robinson - born ? Died? She was married and had a son and daughter (or at least that's what a deceased family member once wrote). She lived in Baltimore, MD at some time. I would appreciate any information on any of these Robinsons.
The Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum is searching for information on a John Robinson, boy of 15, who picked up a tea chest on the Boston Harbor coastline the day after the Boston Tea Party ( December 1773). This tea chest will be the premier exhibit of the new Museum being built this year in Boston. Family tradition, which has held up remarkably well so far, states that John later became a Revolutionary War soldier. After the war, he married a woman named Nancy _____. After John died, she remarried to a man named _____ Holden (we believe this man to be Isaac Holden of St. Albans VT, a Revolutionary War pensioner). Nancy died at or near Fowler, St. Lawrence County NY in 1854. Our working theory is that John of the tea chest was the son of John and Elizabeth (Studley) Robinson of Duxbury, Plymouth County MA and Cambridge, Lamoille County VT. If this theory holds, then the entire family would be descendants of Gain Robinson. John and Nancy had three confirmed children, all of whom settled in the St. Lawrence County NY area: 1. Betsey Robinson [bca. 1796 in NY or VT] m. Jonathan Burrell Fisk of Cambridge VT and Madrid NY. They later settled in the Heuvelton district of Ogdensburg NY and are both buried there. Their many early descendants lived in Ogdensburg NY, Watertown NY, Rochester NY, Oneida NY and Pontiac MI. 2. John R. Robinson [bca. 1800 in NY or VT] m. Patience Marsh of Warren, Herkimer County NY and Granville, Washington County NY. They lived many years in Fowler NY. As age and sickness enveloped them, they split - John R. moved to Hickory Corners MI - Patience moved to Sturgeon Bay, Door County WI. Their early descendants lived in Hastings MI, Marion MI and Sturgeon Bay WI. 3. Ezra Tullar Robinson [b. 10 October 1810 'near St. Albans VT'] m. Mary Ann Marsh, sister of Patience. They resided in Fowler NY, Bucyrus OH and Hickory Corners MI. They are both buried at Hickory Corners MI. Their early descendants settled in Barry County MI and Calhoun County MI. We have found a great deal of information on the three children and their spouses. We still know very little about John Robinson of the tea chest and his wife Nancy. If you know anything of this family, please respond to: George Quintal Jr. P.O. Box 204 Gardiner, ME 04345-0204 (207) 299-4264 george_quintal@yahoo.com

VA-ROOTS@LISTLVA.LIB.VA.US] On Behalf Of Paul Drake (the original submitter). freedbyluvv thought this might be helpful from another list and is just passing it along: Be careful what perpetual calendar you use. All should remember that for anyone born before 1752 who died after that year, one must correct for the 12 days missing in 1752 - Sept. 2 to 14. That was the month and year that we abandoned Julian in favor of the Gregorian Calendar. Then too, until that year what we would call New Years Day was March 21, the 1st month of the year was March, and the last day of the year was the last day of February. Still though in our business dealings with Britain and with France, they had changed their calendars in 1652 and in 1732 respectively, as I recall (correct me if these years are inaccurate). So what? It makes a difference; Geo. Washington's Mom would have said and be correct in giving his birth date and year as Feb. 22, 1731, and not in 1732 as we now declare it to have been. Once again, the only significant effect of the change was in the payment of taxes due, the economics of their day, and in such as log books and account ledgers. I haven't been able to gather much info about this Ellen Robinson yet, other than what I posted. I am not sure if she is the same Ellen that married William Birchall in 1805. All I know at this point is that my William married an Ellen, and it might be Ellen Robinson. Perhaps Ellen was a sister of your Willam Henry (1882) and a daughter of Henry (1855). I will see if I can find that info out, it shouldn't be to difficult with the 1861 census. Thanks Mike

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.ca/mbexec/msg/5543/3cDBAIB/8310 Message Board Post: Looking for any info about Christopher and Ann Robinson who at one time lived in Huron County, Ontario for at least the birth of their first three children. I have conflicting birthdates for Christopher both estimated from dates on his tombstone. It says that he died at age 66y 8m 26d on may 26 1885 making his birth in 1818. In 1881 census he is listed as age 45 making his birth abt 1835. Problem with all this is if he died in 1885, why is he listed in 1891 census so am thinking that tombstone stranscript is wrong. I've yet to get to the cemetery to find out. The three children born in Huron Co. are Margaret Jane b. dec 11 1856, William b.mar 30 1859 and Charles b. may 6 1861. Margaret and Charles list their place of birth as Bayfield on their marriage certificates, but William just lists Ontario. The rest of the children are: Richard may 26 1868, Christopher mar 19 1870, James mar 19 1871, and Eliza b apr 8 1875. They moved to Dawn Towpship, Lambton Co., Ontario, ! by 1881. I cannot find birth, marriage or death registrations for Christopher nor an obit in the local paper. None of the other records give me any clue to who his parents are. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance! Jody
