Hello List, I want to, and NEED to, express my opinions on www.epodunk.com. This site has not only been very useful to me in learning about my ancestors, it has been crucial. But far be it from me to make others believe how useful this is just because I said it was helpful to me. HOWEVER - Let me say that I live in Iowa and have two children in school. One is in high school and one in middle school. When they are instructed in the area of States, cities, counties, etc., www.epodunk.com is THE MAJOR SITE the students are instructed to use for research. The schools have no special license for this site! The information is FREE. If the education system here in IOWA says www.epodunk.com is essential for the students' research, then I believe it is essential for EVERYONE to know how useful this site is. To those who were mislead by Ken's overzealous statement, please take a look at the site for yourselves and make your own decision if it's a worthwhile site. I'm sure you will agree that www.epodunk.com IS INDEED a great resource!!!! THANK YOU APRIL!!!!!! "Ken Wagers" <K.Wagers@worldnet.att.net> wrote BEWARE YOU MUST JOIN ANCESTRY.COM TO ACCESS ANY OF THE DATA! NOTHING BUT AN AD FOR ANCESTRY.COM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, Ken felt the need to shout in all capitol letters a warning that this site is just an ad for Ancestry. I have gotton 13 thank you's from my 8 different lists from folks like me and my group of over 30 people who have found much value in this site. None of us have Ancestry. The information available is a take it or leave it approach. If you find zero value, delete it and keep researching your own way. If you found it helpful, hey, great. I came across it and wanted to share, that's all. I never expected someone to get on a mountain top and shout a warning that the big bad ANCESTRY monster was coming! Good for you jjespin@comcast.net!! Yippee!! You found it useful just like 40 others have!! Yahoo!!! Woopie!!! That's all that matters...we all need any useful tool we can get our hands on to locate details about our ancestors' lives. You are who I was trying to be a good samaritan to and help. You and the 13 others who have written to thank me for sharing are so very welcome. (and none of them have the big bad Ancestry monster either.) Sorry again K.Wagers@worldnet.att.net that you found zero value in such an informative FREE site. They've got the racial breakdown of the area, the population census, and oh so much more!
