Sandy, Bobby West is also researching this group. So, Gorrell was born around 1800 and had a father named John??? I have a John born 1772 in VA married to a Sarah that lived close to Gorrell and Frances. He lived in the part of Smith Co that became Macon Co. He was dead by 1851 but he had children living in Macon Co. William M. Robinson and King (probably David) Robinson. I believe I somehow tie into Ga because I have found another King David Robinson in GA the son of Alexander T. Robinson and Ruthy Boone. I had looked at Gorrel before and read a little about him in a Fuqua family history book on a trip to the Macon Co library. I remember it saying that they came from Va. There are children listed for Gorrell & Frances Robinson in the 1850 Macon County, TN census. I will look those up. by 1860 Frances is listed as a widow living with one of the kids in another area of TN. County Clerk in Gallatin, IL says her mom called that a "grass widow". A lady with some ol' rascal out there in the grass. In those days it seems it must have been easier to declare yourself a widow to the neighbors than tell the tale of your rascally man! I'll look those name up - sometimes the pattern of names helps. Yes, thank you. I did a quick search for the name James, and came up with one. I am going to look into it. I think it would be pretty easy for me to miss links to my line as I have so little to go on. But, I will keep digging. Good luck. I searching for information on my family. I'm hoping someone could help me. My great-grandfather, George W. Robinson was born December 27, 1822 Tuscarsuras County, Ohio. I only know his father's name was Thomas Robinson/Robson, who was born in PA. George W. Robinson's first wife was Nancy Harris. I believe they were married in Ohio. She died in 1873, I believe in Nebraska. They had three children. George served in the 80th Ohio Vol. Inf. Union, Company "C". I had ordered his Military/Pension Records and Nancy's name along with her children was listed. George would request his Pension each month. I found out where they moved each time he did this. This was the biggest treasure I have so far. Gave me a lot of information. George Robinson's second wife was Elizabeth J. Richardson (my great-grandmother). Elizabeth was born April 2, 1853 in Indiana. Her parents, Abner M. Richardson and Mariah Lewis. Elizabeth died May 27, 1907 in Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. George married Elizabeth on July 2, 1853 in Seward County, Nebraska. While living in Seward County, Nebraska they had nine children. Josephine (Josie) Robinson, born January 26, 1875 and died October 30, 1943. Benjamin Franklin Robinson, born October 11, 1876 and died November 9, 1943. George Edgar Robinson, born August 20, 1878 and died February 10, 1964. Savanah Robinson, born May 15, 1880. John Robinson, born June 20, 1882. Harry Orray Robinson, born May 19, 1884. Jennie Robinson, born November 4, 1899 and died April 1904. James (Joe) Abner Robinson, born May 28, 1893 and died May 16, 1969. Nellie Robinson, born June 9, 1896. Is there anyone that is family or have any information, please contact me. I have more information on most of the children and willing to share. Thank you. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3cDBAIB/6713.1 Message Board Post: Have you any info on a Narcissus Robinson born about 1829? She married John Bush in Morgan County, KY in 1849.
Abigail, I am so convinced that our lines merge somewhere, I sure wish I could fill in the blanks and see where! We have possbile Calhoun connections in SC around Abbeville at the GA border, and possible Robinsons in SC and GA, but no exact matches yet. Do you have any ideas where our lines may meet or be cousins or at least be aware of each other? Same circles, same time period? I am still trying to find marriage docs or birth docs for my Robinson family: Sarah F. ___ (Calhoun?) Robinson b1830 GA and her husband Mr or Dr Robinson (Walter? John?) unk dob in GA or SC. They must have married between 1847-1849 and had kids including Mary 1850 GA, Emma 1851 GA and Walter John b1857 GA. There is a story from one side of family about Sarah being with one Robinson brother and then leaving with the other. This is undocumented and unproven, although all sides think the childrens father, at least the father of Walter John, was named Walter and was a doctor. I know in 1859 Mrs Sarah F Robinson marries Dr Allen P Morris in Montgomery AL (with a handwritten note for marriagability verification. What does that mean-widowed or divorced or can we tell?) Dr Morris was supposedly a business partner of Dr/Mr. Robinson according to family stories on both sides of descendants. After 1859 the Morris/ Robinson family can be found in LA, Sarah dies of consumption in 1869 in LA, and from 1875 on, the descendants of Robinson and Morris are in Texas. No word on the father Mr or Dr Robinson's whereabouts or burial. I do not have any actual documentation before the 1859 marriage of Mrs Sarah F. Robinson to Dr. Allen P. Morris in Montgomery. Does anyone know how I could go about finding birth records or a marriage record that early in Georgia? Can anyone do a lookup- I will gladly trade any information or services I can offer?! Thanks listers for all your help so far, and thatnks Abigail for keeping us up to date and informed.
