The Robinson family is one of my brick walls also. I have posted a few times but no clues. It may be that the name was spelled Robertson (the Scottish spelling) and they came over from Nova Scotia to Washington Co., Maine. May run across it somw day.. As you can see his father was Jabez Robinson... the web site is: http://www.archive.org/stream/ourthompsonfamil00lcsinn/ourthompsonfamil00lcsinn_djvu.txt The second reference shows Levi's parents as Jabez Robinson and Martha Hatch of Falmouth, MA. It doesn't say on this one if he was in the Revolutionary War. I believe "The History of Litchfield, Maine," has something about him as he was an early settler there. I am sure you know how to find the names of those in the Revolution. The next reference is "Eastham, Wellflet and beyond." When you get to it click on the tab "individual style" under "everyone, especially Wellfleet." Scroll to bottom and click on "Surname list" Then scroll down to Robinson and go from there. You first ancestor on this one is Jabez b. 1737 and then you can trace it back from there... Have FUN with this.. Hi Harald, Thanks so much for responding - the first from this posting. I would surely love it if this Levi you found was my relative. He is my Robinson "brick wall". I'm not sure if this is the same Levi. Mine was b. abt 1772-5 and went to Sparta, Livingston County, New York around 1812-14 and lived there until after his death abt 1854. Never found proof, but believe he had two wives: Abigail and Betsey. Thanks, Barbara ---- Original Message ----- Sent: Friday, July 10, 2009 3:01 AM Subject: ROBINSON Digest, Vol 4, Issue 182 > 1. My Alexander A. Brown was born 1795 in Scotland and was in Macon Co. Al in the 1830's and 1840's. He remarried ( at age 50) in 1845 in Macon Co. to Catherine Ruth Sikes. They lived in 1850 & a couple of years afterwards in Tuscaloosa CO. Al then came back to Macon Co. abt 1854 where a son was born ( according to the son's Al. death certificate). There is a marriage certificate on file in Macon Co. of a Harriet Brown marrying William L. Robinson in 1855 at the home of her father Alexander Brown. I think Harriet Brown is his child by a first marriage. There is another researcher who says Harriet is the son of an Alexander Brown b. abt 1808? His Harriet was born in 1841. If she married William L. Robinson she would have been only 14.That doesn't seem likely but possible. I am wondering if this researcher could place her Alexander Brown in Macon Co in 1855? My Alexander Brown had brothers: Archibald M. Brown, John William Brown, and sisters, Jane, Sarah, & Jennet Brown Hamilton. Any help appreciated. He was born in 1699 or 1700 and died in 1769. He may have been born in Ayre, Scotland or in Antrim, IRE. The Robinsons had holdings in Scotland and Ireland up into the late 1800's. I believe Jane was born about 1840 and was married to ___Knox by 1769 as she was in the will as Jane Knox and she received a lump sum inheritance instead of 5 pounds yearly for her natural life as two of six children received (probably the youngest two.)
