Burial will be in North Guilford Cemetery, Ledge Hill Road, Guilford. Mrs. Robinson was born in New Haven, Conn., in 1935, the daughter of the late Ernest and Florence Tower. She is remembered as a strong and loving woman with a wonderful sense of humor and a very generous heart. She led an active life which included trick horseback riding, gardening and being a mother, not only to her own children, but a houseful of others as well. She enjoyed crafting, traveling, tag sailing and spending time with her friends. She will be dearly missed by all, including her beloved pets, Beanie, Bonnie and Sadie. Survivors include her husband, Bruce Robinson, of Guilford, Conn. and Davenport, Fla.; her children, Robert (Skip) Robinson and his wife, Kathy, of Guilford, Conn, Gail Brennan of Guilford, Conn., Hollie Goodale and her husband, Mark, of Clinton, Conn., Lauretta Lonardo-Gray and her husband, Laddie, of Guilford, Conn, Mark Robinson and his wife, Mary, of Muscatine, and Eric Robinson and his wife, Marcia, of Clinton, Conn.; a sister, Marion Smith of East Haven, Conn.; grandchildren, Dustin, Katelyn, Meggan, Gabriel, Ian, Gideon, Lyndsey, Gailann, Genevieve and Grant. My g-grandmother said that they all did some schooling back "home". On the 1891 Cambridgeshire census there is an Ethel and Florie Robinson boarding at Wisbech. I checked for Robinsons in North Carolina and nothing. Nor Indiana. There are three brief references to Tennessee. I can jpeg them if you like. This book is pretty much West Virginia. Your information has filled in a missing piece of the family jigsaw. He was one of my great-great grandfathers. I only have sketchy information about his career. I have also found six children for Zachariah Robinson. According to census records, all of the sons, with the exception of John, stayed around Worcester/Staffordshire. The Robinson clan seems to have been fairly prolific in these areas for several centuries. As they tended to use similar names for their children over the generations it is difficult to sort out who is who - have you had any luck in this regard? The Chance family also goes back quite a way in Worcester and there is quite a bit of information about them through Ancestry. I was born in Patterson Creek, WV and, in fact, lived directly across the road from Col Robinson's home. My Aunt and Uncle owned the home for several years. Unfortunately, the current owners have allowed it to fall into disrepair. Would you happen to have a picture of it in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Also have a letter written by J. John Robinson died in Tientsin China on 3rd April 1905. He had been unwell for a while before that. He is buried in Tientsin in the same grave as Alice. That should be the other way around of course, as she survived him. I have a photo of the grave somewhere. I saw an obituary written by the Methodists, which gives an interesting insight into his career. Zachariah had 6 children that I know of. John and Alice had four daughters. Zachariah and Mary Ann (nee Chance) were married on 14-5-1838 in Halesowen, Worcestershire. He was the son of Benjamin and Sarah and Mary Ann was the daughter of John and Caroline - all from Worcestershire. Do you know when and where John Robinson died?
